Taittirīyopaniṣat 01.24

अथ यदि ते कर्मविचिकित्सा वा वृत्तविचिकित्सा वा स्यात्। ये तत्र ब्राह्मणाः संमर्शिनः। युक्ता अयुक्ताः। अलूक्षा धर्मकामाः स्युः। यथा ते तत्र वर्तेरन्। तथा तत्र वर्तेथाः। अथाभ्याख्यातेषु।

atha yadi te karmavicikitsā vā vṛttavicikitsā vā syāt। ye tatra brāhmaṇāḥ saṁmarśinaḥ। yuktā ayuktāḥ। alūkṣā dharmakāmāḥ syuḥ। yathā te tatra varteran। tathā tatra varteṭhāḥ। athābhyākhyāteṣu।

[अथ (atha) - now; then; यदि (yadi) - if; ते (te) - your; कर्मविचिकित्सा (karmavicikitsā) - doubt regarding action; वा (vā) - or; वृत्तविचिकित्सा (vṛttavicikitsā) - doubt regarding conduct; वा (vā) - or; स्यात् (syāt) - might be; ये (ye) - those; तत्र (tatra) - there; ब्राह्मणाः (brāhmaṇāḥ) - Brāhmaṇas; संमर्शिनः (saṁmarśinaḥ) - deliberative; युक्ताः (yuktāḥ) - competent; अयुक्ताः (ayuktāḥ) - incompetent; अलूक्षा (alūkṣā) - not harsh; धर्मकामाः (dharmakāmāḥ) - desiring dharma; स्युः (syuḥ) - should be; यथा (yathā) - as; ते (te) - they; तत्र (tatra) - there; वर्तेरन् (varteran) - should act; तथा (tathā) - so; तत्र (tatra) - there; वर्तेथाः (varteṭhāḥ) - you should act; अथ (atha) - now; then; अभ्याख्यातेषु (abhyākhyāteṣu) - when declared;]

Now, if there should be doubt regarding your action or doubt regarding conduct, (observe) those Brāhmaṇas there who are deliberative, competent, (even if) incompetent, not harsh, desiring dharma; and you should act as they would act there. Thus we have declared now.

ये तत्र ब्राह्मणाः संमर्शिनः। युक्ताः अयुक्ताः। अलूक्षा धर्मकामाः स्युः। यथा ते तेषु वर्तेरन्। तथा तेषु वर्तेथाः।

ye tatra brāhmaṇāḥ sanmarśinaḥ। yuktāḥ ayuktāḥ। alūkṣā dharmakāmāḥ syuḥ। yathā te teṣu varteran। tathā teṣu varteṭhāḥ।

[ये (ye) - who; (plural masculine nominative) तत्र (tatra) - there; ब्राह्मणाः (brāhmaṇāḥ) - Brāhmaṇas; (plural masculine nominative) संमर्शिनः (sanmarśinaḥ) - deliberative; (those who reflect) युक्ताः (yuktāḥ) - engaged; (joined, proper) अयुक्ताः (ayuktāḥ) - not engaged; (not joined, improper) अलूक्षा (alūkṣā) - not harsh; (gentle) धर्मकामाः (dharmakāmāḥ) - desiring dharma; (those who seek righteousness) स्युः (syuḥ) - may be; (they might be) यथा (yathā) - as; (in the manner that) ते (te) - they; (those) तेषु (teṣu) - among them; वर्तेरन् (varteran) - would behave; (would conduct themselves) तथा (tathā) - so; (in that way) तेषु (teṣu) - among them; वर्तेथाः (varteṭhāḥ) - you should behave; (you should conduct yourself);]

Among the Brāhmaṇas there who are deliberative, whether engaged or not, gentle and desirous of righteousness, as they conduct themselves among them, so should you conduct yourself among them.

एष आदेशः। एष उपदेशः। एषा वेदोपनिषत्। एतदनुशासनम्। एवमुपासितव्यम्। एवमु चैतदुपास्यम् ॥२४॥

eṣa ādeśaḥ। eṣa upadeśaḥ। eṣā vedopaniṣat। etadanuśāsanam। evamupāsitavyam। evam u caitadupāsyam ॥24॥

[एष (eṣa) - this; (masculine singular nominative); आदेशः (ādeśaḥ) - injunction; command; एष (eṣa) - this; (masculine singular nominative); उपदेशः (upadeśaḥ) - instruction; teaching; एषा (eṣā) - this; (feminine singular nominative); वेदोपनिषत् (vedopaniṣat) - Vedic Upaniṣad; secret doctrine of the Veda; एतद् (etad) - this; (neuter singular nominative); अनुशासनम् (anuśāsanam) - command; regulation; एवम् (evam) - thus; in this manner; उपासितव्यम् (upāsitavyam) - should be worshipped; should be meditated upon; एवम् (evam) - thus; in this manner; उ (u) - and; moreover; च (ca) - and; एतद् (etad) - this; (neuter singular nominative); उपास्यम् (upāsyam) - to be worshipped; to be meditated upon;]

This is the injunction. This is the instruction. This is the Vedic Upaniṣad. This is the command. Thus it should be meditated upon. Thus, this should be worshipped.
