इन्द्रियाणां पृथग्भावं उदयास्तमयौ च यत्। पृथगुत्पद्यमानानां मत्वा धीरो न शोचति ॥६॥
indriyāṇāṃ pṛthagbhāvaṃ udayāstamayau ca yat। pṛthagutpadyamānānāṃ matvā dhīro na śocati ॥6॥
[इन्द्रियाणां (indriyāṇāṃ) - of the senses; पृथग्भावं (pṛthagbhāvaṃ) - distinct states; उदयास्तमयौ (udayāstamayau) - rise and fall; च (ca) - and; यत् (yat) - which; पृथगुत्पद्यमानानां (pṛthagutpadyamānānāṃ) - individually manifesting; मत्वा (matvā) - having considered; धीरो (dhīraḥ) - the wise one; न (na) - not; शोचति (śocati) - grieves;]
The wise person, understanding the distinct conditions of the senses, their fluctuations, and their unique manifesting capabilities, does not lament.
इन्द्रियेभ्यः परं मनो मनसः सत्त्वमुत्तमम्। सत्त्वादधि महानात्मा महतोऽव्यक्तमुत्तमम् ॥७॥
indriyebhyaḥ paraṃ mano manasaḥ sattvamuttamam। sattvādadhi mahānātmā mahato'vyaktamuttamam ॥7॥
[इन्द्रियेभ्यः (indriyebhyaḥ) - than the senses; परं (param) - beyond; मनः (manaḥ) - mind; मनसः (manasaḥ) - than the mind; सत्त्वम् (sattvam) - intellect; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - superior; सत्त्वात् (sattvāt) - than the intellect; अधि (adhi) - beyond; महानात्मा (mahānātmā) - the great ātmān; महतः (mahataḥ) - than the great self; अव्यक्तम् (avyaktam) - the unmanifest; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - superior;]
The mind is superior to the senses; the intellect is superior to the mind; the great-ātmān is superior to the intellect; and the unmanifest is superior to the great-ātmān.
अव्यक्तात्तु परः पुरुषो व्यापकोऽलिङ्ग एव च। तं ज्ञात्वा मुच्यते जन्तुः अमृतत्वं च गच्छति ॥८॥
avyaktāttu paraḥ puruṣo vyāpako'liṅga eva ca। taṃ jñātvā mucyate jantuḥ amṛtatvaṃ ca gacchati ॥8॥
[अव्यक्तात् (avyaktāt) - from the unmanifest; तु (tu) - but; परः (paraḥ) - transcendent; पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - the person; व्यापकः (vyāpakaḥ) - all-pervading; अलिङ्गः (aliṅgaḥ) - without any mark; एव (eva) - indeed; च (ca) - and; तम् (tam) - him; ज्ञात्वा (jñātvā) - having known; मुच्यते (mucyate) - is liberated; जन्तुः (jantuḥ) - the being; अमृतत्वम् (amṛtatvam) - immortality; च (ca) - and; गच्छति (gacchati) - attains;]
But the Supreme Person is beyond the unmanifest, all-pervading, and without any distinguishing mark. By realizing Him, a being is liberated and attains immortality.
