B.G 3.35
श्रेयान् स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात् स्वनुष्ठितात्। स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः ॥३५॥
śrēyān svadharmō viguṇaḥ paradharmāt svanuṣṭhitāt। svadharmē nidhanaṁ śrēyaḥ paradharmō bhayāvahaḥ ॥35॥
[श्रेयान् स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात् सु अनुष्ठितात्। स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मः र्मो भयावहः॥
śrēyān = it is beneficial; svadharmō = one's own duty; viguṇaḥ = even with faults; paradharmāt = than another's duty; su anuṣṭhitāt = performed perfectly;। svadharmē = in one's own duty; nidhanaṁ = to die; śrēyaḥ = is beneficial; paradharmō = another's duty; bhayāvahaḥ = fraught with fear;॥]
It is beneficial to do one's own duty, even if imperfectly performed, than the duty of another performed to perfection. It is beneficial to die performing one's own duty, while the duty of another is fraught with fear.
Gīta Bhāshya 3.35
Even in uncomfortable situation one must not give up 'swa-dharma' as it is beneficial.
तथापि उग्रं युद्धकर्म इत्यत आह - श्रेयानिति ॥३५॥
tathāpi ugraṁ yuddhakarma ityata āha - śrēyāniti ॥35॥
[tathāpi = however; ugraṁ = gore; yuddhakarma = war activities; ityata = thus it; āha = says; - śrēyāniti = 'sreyan', i.e. it is beneficial; ॥35॥]
However gore the war activities may be, still it is said - 'it is beneficial'.
