Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 18.35
यया स्वप्नं भयं शोकं विषादं मदमेव च। न विमुञ्चति दुर्मेधा धृतिः सा पार्थ तामसी ॥३५॥
yayā svapnaṃ bhayaṃ śokaṃ viṣādaṃ madameva ca। na vimuñcati durmedhā dhṛtiḥ sā pārtha tāmasī ॥35॥
[यया (yayā) - by which; स्वप्नं (svapnaṃ) - dream; भयं (bhayaṃ) - fear; शोकं (śokaṃ) - sorrow; विषादं (viṣādaṃ) - despair; मदं (madam) - intoxication; एव (eva) - indeed; च (ca) - and; न (na) - not; विमुञ्चति (vimuñcati) - releases; दुर्मेधा (durmedhā) - foolish; धृतिः (dhṛtiḥ) - determination; सा (sā) - that; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pritha; तामसी (tāmasī) - of darkness;]
O son of Pritha, the determination by which one does not give up dreams, fear, sorrow, despair, and intoxication is considered to be of the nature of darkness (tāmasī).
Gīta Tātparya 18.35
The Yoga of devotion associated with Lord Vishnu and engaging in it is characterized as 'sāttvikī' determination. That is indeed pure which the elders declare as such; they criticize those that are rajasic and tamasik, and should be neglected.
"वैष्णवो भक्तियोगो यः तद्युक्ता सात्त्विकी धृतिः।"
"vaiṣṇavo bhaktiyogo yaḥ tadyuktā sāttvikī dhṛtiḥ।"
[वैष्णवः (vaiṣṇavaḥ) - related to Vishnu; भक्तियोगः (bhaktiyogaḥ) - devotion and union; यः (yaḥ) - which; तत् (tat) - that; युक्ता (yuktā) - united; सात्त्विकी (sāttvikī) - pure; धृतिः (dhṛtiḥ) - determination;]
"The Yoga of devotion associated with Lord Vishnu and engaging in it is characterized as 'sāttvikī' determination."

- stated thus.
विहितविषयैवेत्यव्यभिचारिणी। "स्वप्नं भयम्" इत्यादि सर्वनिषिद्धोपलक्षणम्।
vihitaviṣayaivetyavyabhicāriṇī। "svapnaṃ bhayam" ityādi sarvaniṣiddhopalakṣaṇam।
[विहित (vihita) - prescribed; विषय (viṣaya) - object; एव (eva) - only; इति (iti) - thus; अव्यभिचारिणी (avyabhicāriṇī) - infallible; स्वप्नं (svapnaṃ) - dream; भयम् (bhayam) - fear; इत्यादि (ityādi) - etc.; सर्व (sarva) - all; निषिद्ध (niṣiddha) - prohibited; उपलक्षणम् (upalakṣaṇam) - indication;]
The prescribed topic and object of discussion are infallible. "Dream, fear," etc., are indications of those that are prohibited.
"तत्तत्सात्त्विकमेव स्यात् यद्यद् वृद्धाः प्रचक्षते। निन्दन्ति तामसं तत्तद्राजसं तदुपेक्षितम्॥"
"tattatsāttvikameva syāt yadyad vṛddhāḥ pracakṣate। nindanti tāmasaṃ tattadrājasaṃ tadupekṣitam॥"
[तत् (tat) - that; तत् (tat) - that; सात्त्विकम् (sāttvikam) - pure; एव (eva) - indeed; स्यात् (syāt) - is; यत् (yat) - which; यत् (yat) - which; वृद्धाः (vṛddhāḥ) - elders; प्रचक्षते (pracakṣate) - declare; निन्दन्ति (nindanti) - criticize; तामसम् (tāmasam) - ignorant; तत् (tat) - that; तत् (tat) - that; राजसम् (rājasam) - passionate; तत् (tat) - that; उपेक्षितम् (upekṣitam) - neglected;]
"That is indeed pure which the elders declare as such; they criticize those that are rajasic and tamasik, and should be neglected."
इति हि भागवते।
iti hi bhāgavate।
[इति (iti) - thus; हि (hi) - indeed; भागवते (bhāgavate) - in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa;]
- it is stated thus in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa.
"महात्मानस्तु मां पार्थ", "अभयं सत्त्वसंशुदि्धः" इत्यादिना वृद्धाश्च उक्ताः॥
"mahātmānas tu māṁ pārtha", "abhayaṁ sattvasaṁśuddiḥ" ityādinā vṛddhāśca uktāḥ॥
[महात्मानः (mahātmānaḥ) - great souls; तु (tu) - but; माम् (mām) - me; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pṛthā; अभयम् (abhayam) - fearlessness; सत्त्व (sattva) - purity; संशुद्धिः (saṁśuddhiḥ) - cleansing; इत्यादिना (ityādinā) - thus; वृद्धाः (vṛddhāḥ) - elders; च (ca) - and; उक्ताः (uktāḥ) - said;]
"O son of Pṛthā, the great souls are devoted to me", "Fearlessness, purity, cleansing" - these are the words spoken by elders.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
