B.G 9.08
प्रकृतिं स्वामवष्टभ्य विसृजामि पुनः पुनः। भूतग्राममिमं कृत्स्नं अवशं प्रकृतेर्वशात् ॥८॥
prakr̥tiṁ svāmavaṣṭabhya visr̥jāmi punaḥ punaḥ। bhūtagrāmamimaṁ kr̥tsnaṁ avaśaṁ prakr̥tervaśāt ॥8॥
[प्रकृतिं (prakṛtim) - nature; स्वाम् (svām) - my consort; अवष्टभ्य (avaṣṭabhya) - having controlled; विसृजामि (visṛjāmi) - I create; पुनः पुनः (punaḥ punaḥ) - again and again; भूतग्रामम् (bhūtagrāmam) - the multitude of beings; इमम् (imam) - this; कृत्स्नं (kṛtsnam) - entire; अवशं (avaśam) - helpless; प्रकृतेः (prakṛteḥ) - of nature; वशात् (vaśāt) - under the control.]
Through My consort Prakrti, I repeatedly create this entire multitude of beings, who are helpless, being swayed under the influence of Prakrti.
Gīta Bhāshya 9.08
Prakrti is that which controls and is under the control of. Dependence of the Lord on Prakrti is like someone who, though capable of walking with his foot, playfully leans on a staff to walk. Indeed, the Lord alone, endowed with infinite power, creates all actions through his own Prakrti.
प्रकृत्यवष्टम्भस्तु यथा कश्चित् समर्थोऽपि पादेन गन्तुं लीलया दण्डम् अवष्टभ्य गच्छति।
prakr̥tyavaṣṭambhastu yathā kaścit samartho'pi pādena gantuṁ līlayā daṇḍam avaṣṭabhya gacchati।
[प्रकृत्यवष्टम्भस्तु (prakṛtyavaṣṭambhastu) - But dependence on 'prakrti'; यथा (yathā) - just as; कश्चित् (kaścit) - someone; समर्थः (samarthaḥ) - capable; अपि (api) - even; पादेन (pādena) - with the foot; गन्तुम् (gantum) - to go; लीलया (līlayā) - playfully; दण्डम् (daṇḍam) - a staff; अवष्टभ्य (avaṣṭabhya) - leaning upon; गच्छति (gacchati) - goes;]

"सर्वभूतगुणैर्युक्तं नैवं त्वं ज्ञातुमर्हसि।"
"sarvabhūtaguṇairyuktaṁ naivaṁ tvaṁ jñātumarhasi।"
[सर्वभूतगुणैः (sarvabhūtaguṇaiḥ) - with all the qualities of beings; युक्तं (yuktam) - endowed; न (na) - not; एवं (evaṁ) - thus; त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; ज्ञातुम् (jñātum) - to know; अर्हसि (arhasi) - ought to;]
"You (the Lord) ought not to be known as endowed with all the qualities of (ordinary) beings."
इति च मोक्षधर्मे।
iti ca mokṣadharme।
[इति (iti) - thus; च (ca) - and; मोक्षधर्मे (mokṣadharme) - in the Mokṣa-dharma section.]

"सर्वभूतगुणैर्युक्तं दैवं मां ज्ञातुमर्हसि।"
"sarvabhūtaguṇairyuktaṁ daivaṁ māṁ jñātumarhasi।"
[सर्वभूतगुणैः (sarvabhūtaguṇaiḥ) - with all the qualities of beings; युक्तं (yuktam) - endowed; दैवं (daivam) - divine; माम् (mām) - me; ज्ञातुम् (jñātum) - to know; अर्हसि (arhasi) - ought to;]
"You ought to know me as the divine, endowed with all the qualities of beings."

"विदित्वा सप्त सूक्ष्माणि षडङ्गं च महेश्वरम्। प्रधानविनियोगस्थः परं ब्रह्माधिगच्छति॥"
"viditvā sapta sūkṣmāṇi ṣaḍaṅgaṁ ca maheśvaram। pradhānaviniyogasthaḥ paraṁ brahmādhigacchati॥"
[विदित्वा (viditvā) - having known; सप्त (sapta) - seven; सूक्ष्माणि (sūkṣmāṇi) - subtle (principles); षडङ्गं (ṣaḍaṅgaṁ) - having six parts; च (ca) - and; महेश्वरम् (maheśvaram) - the great Lord; प्रधानविनियोगस्थः (pradhānaviniyogasthaḥ) - established in the rightful use of Pradhāna (primordial unmanifest matter); परम् (param) - supreme; ब्रह्म (brahma) - Brahman; अधिगच्छति (adhigacchati) - attains;]
"Having known the seven subtle principles and six parts of the great Lord, as the One who is established in the rightful use of Pradhāna (primordial unmanifest matter), attains the Supreme Brahman."

"na kutracicchaktiranantarūpā vihanyate tasya maheśvarasya। tathāpi māyāmadhiruhya devaḥ pravartate sr̥ṣṭivilāpaneṣu॥"
[न (na) - not; कुत्रचित् (kutracit) - anywhere; शक्तिः (śaktiḥ) - power; अनन्तरूपा (anantarūpā) - of infinite forms; विहन्यते (vihanyate) - is hindered; तस्य (tasya) - of that; महेश्वरस्य (maheśvarasya) - great Lord; तथापि (tathāpi) - yet; मायाम् (māyām) - Māyā (illusion); अधिरुह्य (adhiruhya) - having mounted; देवः (devaḥ) - the divine one; प्रवर्तते (pravartate) - engages; सृष्टि (sṛṣṭi) - creation; विलापनेषु (vilāpaneṣu) - and dissolution;]
"The power of the great Lord, of infinite forms, is never hindered anywhere. Yet, having mounted on Māyā (the prakrti, or the Pradhana), the divine one engages in creation and dissolution."
इति ऋग्वेदखिलेषु।

[मयि (mayi) - in me; अनन्तगुणे (anantaguṇe) - possessing infinite qualities; अनन्ते (anante) - infinite; गुणतः (guṇataḥ) - in terms of qualities; अनन्तविग्रहे (anantavigrahe) - having an infinite form;]
"In me, who is infinite, who possesses infinite qualities, and who has infinite forms in terms of qualities."

iti bhāgavate।

"अथ कस्मादुच्यते परं ब्रह्म इति बृंहति बृंहयति च।"

[अथ (atha) - then; कस्मात् (kasmāt) - why; उच्यते (ucyate) - is said; परं (paraṁ) - supreme; ब्रह्म (brahma) - Brahman; इति (iti) - thus; बृंहति (bṛṁhati) - it expands; बृंहयति (bṛṁhayati) - it makes expand; च (ca) - and;]
"Then, why is it called the supreme Brahman? Because, it expands and makes others to expand."
इति च अथर्वणे।

"पराऽस्य शक्तिर्विविधैव श्रूयते।"

[परा (parā) - supreme; अस्य (asya) - of this; शक्तिः (śaktiḥ) - power; विविधैव (vividhāiva) - in various forms; श्रूयते (śrūyate) - is heard;]
"The supreme power of this is heard in various forms."

"viṣṇornu kaṁ vīryāṇi pravocaṁ yaḥ pārthivāni vimame rajāṁsi॥", "na te viṣṇo jāyamāno na jāto deva mahimnaḥ paramantamāpa॥"
[विष्णोर्नु (viṣṇornu) - of Vishnu, indeed; कं (kaṁ) - which; वीर्याणि (vīryāṇi) - heroic deeds; प्रवोचं (prvocam) - should I speak of; यः (yaḥ) - he who; पार्थिवानि (pārthivāni) - earthly; विममे (vimame) - has examined; रजांसि (rajāṁsi) - the dust; #br
न (na) - not; ते (te) - you; विष्णोः (viṣhṇoḥ) - of Vishnu; जायमाने (jāyamāne) - being born; न (na) - not; जातः (jātaḥ) - to be born; देव (deva) - god / lord; महिम्नः (mahimnaḥ) - of glory; परमन्तम् (paramantam) - supreme; आप् (āp) - attained / understand;]
"Indeed, even he who has examined every earthly dust says, which heroic deeds of Vishnu should I speak of?", "Neither those who are born in the past, nor those to be born in future can understand supreme glory of lord Vishnu."

"त्वमेवैतत्सर्जने सर्वकर्मण्यनन्तशक्तोऽपि स्वमाययैव। मायावशं चावशलोकमेतत्तस्मात् स्रक्ष्यस्यत्सि पासीश विष्णो॥"
"tvamevaitatsarjane sarvakarmaṇyanantaśakto'pi svamāyayaiva। māyāvaśaṁ cāvaśalokametattasmāt srakṣyasyatsi pāsīśa viṣṇo॥"
[त्वमेव (tvameva) - you alone; एतत् (etat) - this; सर्जने (sarjane) - in creation; सर्वकर्मणि (sarvakarmaṇi) - in all actions; अनन्तशक्तः (anantaśaktaḥ) - though endowed with infinite power; अपि (api) - even; स्वमायया (svamāyayā) - by your own 'Maya', i.e 'prakrti'; एव (eva) - indeed; मायावशं (māyāvaśaṁ) - under the influence of 'prakrti'; च (ca) - and; आवशलोकमेतत् (āvaśalokametat) - this world of beings; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; स्रक्ष्यस्यत्सि (srakṣyasyatsi) - you will protect; पासीश (pāsīśa) - O protector; विष्णो (viṣhṇo) - O Vishnu;]
"You alone, endowed with infinite power, create all actions, indeed through your own Prakrti. Under the influence of this 'Prakrti', this world of beings exists. Therefore, Oh Vishnu!, you are the protector."
इति गौतमखिलेषु ॥८॥
