Chapter Four - Nijapūrṇasukhā (चतुर्थोध्यायः - निजपूर्णसुखा)
निजपूर्णसुखामितबोधतनुः परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः। अजरारमरणः सकलार्तिहरः कमलापतिरीड्यतमोवतु नः ॥१॥
nijapūrṇasukhāmitabōdhatanuḥ paraśaktiranantaguṇaḥ paramaḥ। ajarāramaraṇaḥ sakalārtiharaḥ kamalāpatirīḍyatamōvatu naḥ ॥1॥
[निज (nija) - intrinsic; पूर्णसुख (pūrṇasukha) - perfect bliss; अमितबोध (amitabōdha) - boundless consciousness; तनुः (tanuḥ) - whose form consists of; परशक्तिः (paraśaktiḥ) - whose power is supreme; अनन्तगुणः (anantaguṇaḥ) - possessing infinite qualities; परमः (paramaḥ) - supreme; अजरारमरणः (ajarāramaraṇaḥ) - free from old age and death; सकलार्तिहरः (sakalārtiharaḥ) - remover of every affliction; कमलापतिः (kamalāpatiḥ) - Lord of Kamalā; ईड्यतमः (īḍyatamaḥ) - most worthy of praise; अवतु (avatu) - may he protect; नः (naḥ) - us;]
May the Lord of Kamalā, whose intrinsic form consists of perfect bliss and boundless consciousness, whose power is supreme, who possesses infinite qualities, who is supreme, free from old age and death, the remover of every affliction, and most worthy of praise, protect us. (1)

यदसुप्तिगतोपि हरिः सुखवान् सुखरूपिणमाहुरतो निगमाः। स्वमतिप्रभवं जगदस्य यतः परबोधतनुं च ततः खपतिम् ॥२॥
yadasuptigatōpi hariḥ sukhavān sukharūpiṇamāhuratō nigamāḥ। svamatiprabhavaṁ jagadasya yataḥ parabōdhatanuṁ ca tataḥ khapatim ॥2॥
[यत् (yat) - because; असुप्तिगतः (asuptigataḥ) - not having entered sleep; अपि (api) - even; हरिः (hariḥ) - Hari; सुखवान् (sukhavān) - blissful; सुखरूपिणम् (sukharūpiṇam) - whose nature is bliss; आहुः (āhuḥ) - they call; अतः (ataḥ) - therefore; निगमाः (nigamāḥ) - the Vedas; स्व-मति-प्रभवम् (sva-mati-prabhavam) - arising from his own mind; जगत् (jagat) - the universe; अस्य (asya) - his; यतः (yataḥ) - because; पर-बोध-तनुम् (para-bōdha-tanum) - whose nature is supreme knowledge; च (ca) - and; ततः (tataḥ) - therefore; खपतिम् (khapatim) - the Lord of the sky;]
Because Hari is blissful even without entering sleep, the Vedas therefore call him one whose nature is bliss; and because the universe arises from his own mind, they call the Lord of the sky one whose nature is supreme knowledge. (2)

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः। सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥३॥
bahucitrajagadbahudhākaraṇāt paraśaktiranantaguṇaḥ paramaḥ। sukharūpamamuṣya padaṁ paramaṁ smaratastu bhaviṣyati tatsatatam ॥3॥
[बहुचित्रजगत् (bahucitrajagat) - the richly varied universe; बहुधा-करणात् (bahudhā-karaṇāt) - because of creating in manifold ways; परशक्तिः (paraśaktiḥ) - possessing supreme power; अनन्तगुणः (anantaguṇaḥ) - possessing infinite qualities; परमः (paramaḥ) - supreme; सुखरूपम् (sukharūpam) - whose nature is bliss; अमुष्य (amuṣya) - of his; पदम् (padam) - abode; परमम् (paramam) - supreme; स्मरतः (smarataḥ) - for one who remembers him; तु (tu) - but; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be; तत् (tat) - that; सततम् (satatam) - always;]
Because he creates the richly varied universe in manifold ways, he possesses supreme power and infinite qualities and is supreme. But that supreme abode of his, whose nature is bliss, will always be for one who remembers him. (3)

स्मरणे हि परेशितुरस्य विभोर्मलिनानि मनांसि कुतः करणम्। विमलं हि पदं परमं स्वरतं तरुणार्कसवर्णमजस्य हरेः ॥४॥
smaraṇē hi parēśiturasya vibhōrmalināni manāṁsi kutaḥ karaṇam। vimalaṁ hi padaṁ paramaṁ svarataṁ taruṇārkasavarṇamajasya harēḥ ॥4॥
[स्मरणे (smaraṇē) - in remembrance; हि (hi) - for; परेशितुः + अस्य (parēśituḥ + asya) - of this supreme ruler; विभोः (vibhōḥ) - of the all-pervading one; मलिनानि (malināni) - impure; मनांसि (manāṁsi) - minds; कुतः (kutaḥ) - how; करणम् (karaṇam) - could become; विमलं (vimalaṁ) - stainless; हि (hi) - for; पदं (padaṁ) - abode; परमं (paramaṁ) - supreme; स्वरतं (svarataṁ) - delighting in itself; तरुणार्कसवर्णम् (taruṇārkasavarṇam) - the color of the rising sun; अजस्य (ajasya) - of the unborn; हरेः (harēḥ) - Hari;]
For when this supreme ruler, the all-pervading one, is remembered, how could minds become impure? The supreme abode of unborn Hari is stainless, delighting in itself, and the color of the rising sun. (4)

विमलैः श्रुतिशाणनिशाततमैः सुमनोसिभिराशु निहत्य दृढम्। बलिनं निजवैरिणमात्मतमोभिदमीशमनन्तमुपास्व हरिम् ॥५॥
vimalaiḥ śrutiśāṇaniśātatamaiḥ sumanōsibhirāśu nihatya dr̥ḍham। balinaṁ nijavairiṇamātmatamōbhidamīśamanantamupāsva harim ॥5॥
[विमलैः (vimalaiḥ) - with pure; श्रुति-शाण-निशाततमैः (śruti-śāṇa-niśātatamaiḥ) - sharpened keenest on the whetstone of scripture; सु-मनः-असिभिः (su-manaḥ-asibhiḥ) - with the swords of a good mind; आशु (āśu) - swiftly; निहत्य (nihatya) - having slain; दृढम् (dr̥ḍham) - tenacious; बलिनम् (balinam) - powerful; निज-वैरिणम् (nija-vairiṇam) - your own enemy; आत्म-तमो-भिदम् (ātma-tamō-bhidam) - destroyer of inner darkness; ईशम् (īśam) - the Lord; अनन्तम् (anantam) - the infinite; उपास्व (upāsva) - worship; हरिम् (harim) - Hari;]
Having swiftly slain your tenacious and powerful enemy with the pure swords of a good mind, sharpened keenest on the whetstone of scripture, worship Hari, the infinite Lord who destroys inner darkness. (5)

स हि विश्वसृजो विभुशम्भुपुरन्दरसूर्यमुखानपरानमरान्। सृजतीड्यतमोवति हन्ति निजं पदमापयति प्रणतान्सुधिया ॥६॥
sa hi viśvasr̥jō vibhuśambhupurandarasūryamukhānaparānamarān। sr̥jatīḍyatamōvati hanti nijaṁ padamāpayati praṇatānsudhiyā ॥6॥
[सः (saḥ) - he; हि (hi) - for; विश्वसृजः (viśvasr̥jaḥ) - the creators of the universe; विभु-शम्भु-पुरन्दर-सूर्य-मुखान् (vibhu-śambhu-purandara-sūrya-mukhān) - headed by Vibhu, Śambhu, Purandara, and Sūrya; अपरान् (aparān) - other; अमरान् (amarān) - immortals; सृजति (sr̥jati) - creates; ईड्यतमः (īḍyatamaḥ) - most worthy of praise; अवति (avati) - protects; हन्ति (hanti) - destroys; निजम् (nijam) - his own; पदम् (padam) - abode; आपयति (āpayati) - causes to attain; प्रणतान् (praṇatān) - those who bow before him; सुधिया (sudhiyā) - with pure understanding;]
For he, most worthy of praise, creates, protects, and destroys the creators of the universe and the other immortals headed by Vibhu, Śambhu, Purandara, and Sūrya; he brings those who bow before him with pure understanding to his own abode. (6)

परमोपि रमेशितुरस्य समो न हि कश्चिदभून्न भविष्यति च। क्वचिदद्यतनोपि न पूर्णसदागणितेड्यगुणानुभवैकतनोः ॥७॥
paramōpi ramēśiturasya samō na hi kaścidabhūnna bhaviṣyati ca। kvacidadyatanōpi na pūrṇasadāgaṇitēḍyaguṇānubhavaikatanōḥ ॥7॥
[परमः + अपि (paramaḥ + api) - not even the highest being; रमेशितुः + अस्य (ramēśituḥ + asya) - of this Lord of Ramā; समः (samaḥ) - equal; न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; अभूत् (abhūt) - has been; न (na) - not; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be; च (ca) - and; क्वचित् (kvacit) - ever; अद्यतनः + अपि (adyatanaḥ + api) - even anyone existing now; न (na) - not; पूर्ण-सदा (pūrṇa-sadā) - always complete; अगणित-ईड्य-गुण (agaṇita-īḍya-guṇa) - innumerable praiseworthy qualities; अनुभव-एक-तनोः (anubhava-ēka-tanōḥ) - whose sole nature is experience;]
No one, not even the highest being, has ever been equal to this Lord of Ramā, nor will anyone ever be, nor is anyone now equal to him whose sole nature is the ever-complete experience of innumerable praiseworthy qualities. (7)

इति देववरस्य हरेः स्तवनं कृतवान् मुनिरुत्तममादरतः। सुखतीर्थापदाभिहितः पठतस्तदिदं भवति ध्रुवमुच्चसुखम् ॥८॥
iti dēvavarasya harēḥ stavanaṁ kr̥tavān muniruttamamādarataḥ। sukhatīrthāpadābhihitaḥ paṭhatastadidaṁ bhavati dhruvamuccasukham ॥8॥
[इति (iti) - thus; देववरस्य (dēvavarasya) - of the best of gods; हरेः (harēḥ) - of Hari; स्तवनम् (stavanam) - hymn of praise; कृतवान् (kr̥tavān) - composed; मुनिः (muniḥ) - the sage; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - excellent; आदरतः (ādarataḥ) - reverently; सुखतीर्थापदाभिहितः (sukhatīrthāpadābhihitaḥ) - called Sukhatīrthāpada; पठतः (paṭhataḥ) - for one who recites; तद् + इदम् (tad + idam) - this very hymn; भवति (bhavati) - arises; ध्रुवम् (dhruvam) - certainly; उच्चसुखम् (uccasukham) - supreme happiness;]
Thus the sage called Sukhatīrthāpada reverently composed this excellent hymn of praise to Hari, the best of gods. Supreme happiness is assured for one who recites it. (8)

Thus ends the fourth chapter of the Dvādaśastotra, composed by the illustrious Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpādācārya.
