Chapter Five - Vāsudēvāparimēyasudhāman (पञ्चमोध्यायः - वासुदेवापरिमेयसुधामन् )
वासुदेवापरिमेयसुधामन् शुद्धसदोदित सुन्दरीकान्त। धराधरधारणवेधुरधर्तः सौधृतिदीधितिवेधृविधातः ॥१॥
vāsudēvāparimēyasudhāman śuddhasadōdita sundarīkānta। dharādharadhāraṇavēdhuradhartaḥ saudhr̥tidīdhitivēdhr̥vidhātaḥ ॥1॥
[वासुदेव (vāsudēva) - O Vāsudeva; अपरिमेय-सुधामन् (aparimēya-sudhāman) - O one of immeasurable splendid radiance; शुद्ध (śuddha) - O pure one; सदा + उदित (sadā + udita) - ever manifest; सुन्दरी-कान्त (sundarī-kānta) - O beloved of Sundarī; धराधर-धारण-वेधुर-धर्तः (dharādhara-dhāraṇa-vēdhura-dhartaḥ) - O bearer adept at holding the mountain; सौधृति-दीधिति-वेधृ-विधातः (saudhr̥ti-dīdhiti-vēdhr̥-vidhātaḥ) - O creator of steadfastness, radiance, and the Creator;]
O Vāsudeva, whose splendid radiance is immeasurable, pure and ever manifest, beloved of Sundarī, adept bearer of the mountain, creator of steadfastness, radiance, and the Creator... (1)

अधिक बन्धं रन्धय बोधाच्छिन्धि पिधानं बन्धुरमद्धा। केशव केशव शासक वन्दे पाशधरार्चित शूरवरेश ॥२॥
adhika bandhaṁ randhaya bōdhācchindhi pidhānaṁ bandhuramaddhā। kēśava kēśava śāsaka vandē pāśadharārcita śūravarēśa ॥2॥
[अधिक (adhika) - O Supreme One; बन्धं (bandhaṁ) - bondage; रन्धय (randhaya) - destroy; बोधात् + छिन्धि (bōdhāt + chindhi) - cut away from understanding; पिधानं (pidhānaṁ) - the covering; बन्धुरम् + अद्धा (bandhuram + addhā) - close-fitting indeed; केशव (kēśava) - O Keśava; केशव (kēśava) - O Keśava; शासक (śāsaka) - O ruler; वन्दे (vandē) - I bow to you; पाशधरार्चित (pāśadharārcita) - worshipped by the noose-bearer; शूरवरेश (śūravarēśa) - lord of the foremost heroes;]
O Supreme One, destroy bondage; indeed, cut the close-fitting covering away from understanding. O Keśava, Keśava, ruler, I bow to you, worshipped by the bearer of the noose, lord of the foremost heroes. (2)

नारायणामल कारण वन्दे कारण कारण पूर्णवरेण्य। माधव माधव साधक वन्दे बाधक बोधक शुद्धसमाधे ॥३॥
nārāyaṇāmala kāraṇa vandē kāraṇa kāraṇa pūrṇavarēṇya। mādhava mādhava sādhaka vandē bādhaka bōdhaka śuddhasamādhē ॥3॥
[नारायण + अमल (nārāyaṇa + amala) - O Nārāyaṇa, stainless one; कारण (kāraṇa) - O cause; वन्दे (vandē) - I revere you; कारण + कारण (kāraṇa + kāraṇa) - cause of causes; पूर्णवरेण्य (pūrṇavarēṇya) - perfect and most excellent one; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava; साधक (sādhaka) - accomplisher; वन्दे (vandē) - I revere you; बाधक (bādhaka) - restrainer; बोधक (bōdhaka) - enlightener; शुद्धसमाधे (śuddhasamādhē) - one of pure concentration;]
I revere you, O Nārāyaṇa, stainless cause and cause of causes, the perfect and most excellent one. I revere you, O Mādhava, O Mādhava, accomplisher, restrainer, enlightener, whose concentration is pure. (3)

गोविन्द गोविन्द पुरन्दर वन्दे स्कन्दसुनन्दनवन्दितपाद। विष्णो सृजिष्णो ग्रसिष्णो विवन्दे कृष्ण सदुष्णवधिष्णो सुधृष्णो ॥४॥
gōvinda gōvinda purandara vandē skandasunandanavanditapāda। viṣṇō sr̥jiṣṇō grasiṣṇō vivandē kr̥ṣṇa saduṣṇavadhiṣṇō sudhr̥ṣṇō ॥4॥
[गोविन्द (gōvinda) - Govinda; गोविन्द (gōvinda) - Govinda; पुरन्दर (purandara) - destroyer of strongholds; वन्दे (vandē) - I praise; स्कन्द (skanda) - Skanda; सुनन्दन (sunandana) - Sunandana; वन्दित (vandita) - revered by; पाद (pāda) - whose feet; विष्णो (viṣṇō) - O Vishnu; सृजिष्णो (sr̥jiṣṇō) - creator; ग्रसिष्णो (grasiṣṇō) - devourer; विवन्दे (vivandē) - I revere; कृष्ण (kr̥ṣṇa) - O Krishna; सदुष्ण (saduṣṇa) - Saduṣṇa; वधिष्णो (vadhiṣṇō) - slayer; सुधृष्णो (sudhr̥ṣṇō) - most daring;]
Govinda, Govinda, destroyer of strongholds, I praise you, whose feet are revered by Skanda and Sunandana. O Vishnu, creator and devourer, I revere you—O Krishna, slayer of Saduṣṇa, most daring one. (4)

मधुसूदन दानवसादन वन्दे दैवतमोदित वेदितपाद। त्रिविक्रम निष्क्रम विक्रम वन्दे सङ्क्रम सुक्रम हुङ्कृतवक्त्र ॥५॥
madhusūdana dānavasādana vandē daivatamōdita vēditapāda। trivikrama niṣkrama vikrama vandē saṅkrama sukrama huṅkr̥tavaktra ॥5॥
[मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - O Madhusūdana; दानवसादन (dānavasādana) - O destroyer of Dānavas; वन्दे (vandē) - I praise; दैवत + मोदित (daivata + mōdita) - O gladdener of the gods; वेदित + पाद (vēdita + pāda) - O one whose feet are known; त्रिविक्रम (trivikrama) - O Trivikrama; निष्क्रम (niṣkrama) - O one who strides forth; विक्रम (vikrama) - O mighty strider; वन्दे (vandē) - I praise; सङ्क्रम (saṅkrama) - O one who strides across; सुक्रम (sukrama) - O one of excellent strides; हुङ्कृत + वक्त्र (huṅkr̥ta + vaktra) - O one whose face utters hūṃ;]
O Madhusūdana, destroyer of Dānavas, I praise you—gladdener of the gods, whose feet are known. O Trivikrama, who strides forth with mighty steps, I praise you—who strides across with excellent strides, whose face utters “hūṃ.” (5)

O Vāmana, Vāmana, radiant one, I praise you; O sacred chant, boundary, sacred chant, and summit. O Śrīdhara, Śrīdhara, bearer of well-being, I praise you; O bearer of the earth, bearer of water, and bearer upon the shoulder. (6)

हृषीकेश सुकेश परेश विवन्दे शरणेश कलेश बलेश सुखेश। पद्मनाभ शुभोद्भव वन्दे सम्भृतलोकभराभर भूरे। दामोदर दूरतरान्तर वन्दे दारितपारगपाद परस्मात् ॥७॥
hr̥ṣīkēśa sukēśa parēśa vivandē śaraṇēśa kalēśa balēśa sukhēśa। padmanābha śubhōdbhava vandē sambhr̥talōkabharābhara bhūrē। dāmōdara dūratarāntara vandē dāritapāragapāda parasmāt ॥7॥
[हृषीकेश (hr̥ṣīkēśa) - Hṛṣīkeśa; सुकेश (sukēśa) - beautiful-haired one; परेश (parēśa) - supreme Lord; विवन्दे (vivandē) - I bow reverently to; शरणेश (śaraṇēśa) - Lord of refuge; कलेश (kalēśa) - Lord of the arts; बलेश (balēśa) - Lord of strength; सुखेश (sukhēśa) - Lord of happiness; पद्मनाभ (padmanābha) - Padmanābha; शुभ-उद्भव (śubha-udbhava) - source of auspiciousness; वन्दे (vandē) - I bow to; सम्भृत-लोक-भर-आभर (sambhr̥ta-lōka-bhara-ābhara) - bearer of the burden of the sustained worlds; भूरे (bhūrē) - bountiful one; दामोदर (dāmōdara) - Dāmodara; दूरतर (dūratara) - more distant; अन्तर (antara) - innermost; वन्दे (vandē) - I bow to; दारित-पार-ग-पाद (dārita-pāra-ga-pāda) - whose foot passed beyond the pierced boundary; परस्मात् (parasmāt) - than the highest;]
Hṛṣīkeśa, beautiful-haired one and supreme Lord, I bow reverently to you—the Lord of refuge, the arts, strength, and happiness. Padmanābha, source of auspiciousness, I bow to you, bountiful bearer of the burden of the worlds you sustain. Dāmodara, more distant than the highest yet innermost, I bow to you, whose foot passed beyond the boundary it had pierced. (7)

आनन्दतीर्थमुनीन्द्रकृता हरिगीतिरियं परमादरतः। परलोकवलिोकनसूर्यनिभा हरिभक्तिविवर्धनशौण्डतमा ॥८॥
ānandatīrthamunīndrakr̥tā harigītiriyaṁ paramādarataḥ। paralōkavaliōkanasūryanibhā haribhaktivivardhanaśauṇḍatamā ॥8॥
[आनन्दतीर्थमुनीन्द्रकृता (ānandatīrthamunīndrakr̥tā) - composed by the eminent sage Ānandatīrtha; हरिगीतिः + इयम् (harigītiḥ + iyam) - this song of Hari; परमादरतः (paramādarataḥ) - with the highest devotion; परलोकवलिोकनसूर्यनिभा (paralōkavaliōkanasūryanibhā) - like the sun for seeing the next world; हरिभक्तिविवर्धनशौण्डतमा (haribhaktivivardhanaśauṇḍatamā) - supremely effective in increasing devotion to Hari;]
This song of Hari, composed with the highest devotion by the eminent sage Ānandatīrtha, is like the sun for seeing the next world and is supremely effective in increasing devotion to Hari. (8)

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
