Mundaka 3.10
पुरुष एवेदं विश्वं कर्म तपो ब्रह्म परामृतम्। एतद्यो वेद निहितं गुहायां सोऽविद्याग्रन्थिं विकिरतीह सोम्य ॥१०॥
puruṣa evedaṃ viśvaṃ karma tapo brahma parāmṛtam। etadyo veda nihitaṃ guhāyāṃ so'vidyāgranthiṃ vikiratīha somya ॥10॥
[पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - the Puruṣaḥ; एव (eva) - indeed; इदं (idaṃ) - this; विश्वम् (viśvam) - universe; कर्म (karma) - action; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; ब्रह्म (brahma) - Brahman; परामृतम् (parāmṛtam) - supreme nectar; एतत् (etat) - this; यः (yaḥ) - who; वेद (veda) - knows; निहितम् (nihitam) - hidden; गुहायाम् (guhāyām) - in the cave; सः (saḥ) - he; अविद्या (avidyā) - ignorance; ग्रन्थिम् (granthim) - knot; विकिरति (vikirati) - scatters; इह (iha) - here; सोम्य (somya) - O gentle one;]
This Puruṣaḥa, the universal person, is truly the universe, action, austerity, Brahman, and the supreme without death. Whoever knows THIS hidden in the heart's cave breaks the knot of ignorance here, dear one.
Bhāshya 3.10
Indeed, the 'puruṣaḥa', the person, named the supreme deathless Brahman is that Lord alone. Knowledge, dharma, strength, and action are His innate nature.
भगवतः कर्म चेष्टा तपो ज्ञानं च परामृतब्रह्माख्यः पुरुषो भगवानेव।
bhagavataḥ karma ceṣṭā tapo jñānaṃ ca parāmṛtabrahmākhyaḥ puruṣo bhagavāneva।
[भगवतः (bhagavataḥ) - of the Lord; कर्म (karma) - action; चेष्टा (ceṣṭā) - effort; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; ज्ञानं (jñānaṃ) - knowledge; च (ca) - and; परामृतब्रह्माख्यः (parāmṛtabrahmākhyaḥ) - named the supreme deathless Brahman; पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - the person; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the Lord; एव (eva) - indeed;]
The Lord's actions are 'ceṣṭā', i.e. effort or movement. His austerity is knowledge. Indeed, the 'puruṣaḥa', the person, named the supreme deathless Brahman is that Lord alone.
"यैषा चेष्टा भगवतो यच्च ज्ञानं परात्मनः। तत्सर्वं भगवानेव ये च धर्मा बलादयः॥"
"yaiṣā ceṣṭā bhagavato yac ca jñānaṃ parātmanaḥ। tatsarvaṃ bhagavāneva ye ca dharmā balādayaḥ॥"
[यैषा (yaiṣā) - this; चेष्टा (ceṣṭā) - activity; भगवतो (bhagavato) - of the Lord; यत् (yat) - which; च (ca) - and; ज्ञानं (jñānaṃ) - knowledge; परात्मनः (parātmanaḥ) - of the Supreme Soul; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वं (sarvaṃ) - all; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the Lord; एव (eva) - indeed; ये (ye) - which; च (ca) - and; धर्माः (dharmāḥ) - virtues; बलादयः (balādayaḥ) - strength, etc.;]
"This activity of the Lord and the knowledge of the Supreme Soul - all that is indeed Lord only. Similar are dharma, strength, and others as well."
