श्रीभगवानुवाच
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
[श्रीभगवान् (śrī-bhagavān) - the auspicious Lord; उवाच (uvāca) - said;]
The Auspicious Lord said:
मय्यावेश्य मनो ये मां नित्ययुक्ता उपासते। श्रद्धया परयोपेतास्ते मे युक्ततमा मताः ॥२॥
mayy āveśya mano ye māṁ nitya-yuktā upāsate। śraddhayā parayopetās te me yuktatamā matāḥ॥2॥
[मयि (mayi) - in Me; आवेश्य (āveśya) - having fixed; मनः (manaḥ) - the mind; ये (ye) - those who; माम् (mām) - Me; नित्ययुक्ताः (nitya-yuktāḥ) - ever steadfast; उपासते (upāsate) - worship; श्रद्धया (śraddhayā) - with faith; परया (parayā) - supreme; उपेताः (upetāḥ) - endowed; ते (te) - they; मे (me) - by Me; युक्ततमाः (yuktatamāḥ) - most devoted; मताः (matāḥ) - are considered;]
Those who, having fixed their mind on Me, worship Me ever steadfast and endowed with supreme faith — they are considered by Me the most devoted and accomplished.
Gīta Tātparya 12.02
The devotee should always meditate upon Śrī as supreme, and Her lord as the Supreme Person. Pleased by that, she may grant flawless worship of lord Viṣṇu. Those who worship Śrī separately suffer more, as she will not be pleased with it. The word 'yuktatamāḥ' in the context implies the most accomplished aspirants.
"अविष्णुज्ञैरतद्भक्तैः तदुपासाविवर्जितैः। शपेदुपासिताप्येषा श्रीस्तान् तद्धरितत्त्ववित्॥
"aviṣṇujñair atadbhaktaiḥ tad-upāsā-vivarjitaiḥ। śaped upāsitā api eṣā śrīḥ tān tat-hari-tattva-vit॥
[अविष्णुज्ञैः (aviṣṇujñaiḥ) - by those ignorant of Viṣṇu; अतद्भक्तैः (atadbhaktaiḥ) - by non-devotees of Him; तदुपासाविवर्जितैः (tad-upāsā-vivarjitaiḥ) - devoid of His worship; शपेत् (śapet) - curses; उपासिता अपि (upāsitā api) - even if worshipped; एषा (eṣā) - this (Śrī); श्रीः (śrīḥ) - Śrī; तान् (tān) - them; तद्-हरि-तत्त्व-वित् (tat-hari-tattva-vit) - knower of the truth of Hari;]
"This Śrī, even when worshipped, curses those who are ignorant of Viṣṇu, not His devotees, and devoid of His worship — thus says one who knows the truth of Hari.
तद्भक्तः तमुपास्यैव श्रियं ध्यायीत नित्यदा। तेन तुष्टा तु साऽच्छिद्रं दद्याद् विष्णोरुपासनम्॥
tadbhaktaḥ tam upāsyaiva śriyaṁ dhyāyīta nityadā। tena tuṣṭā tu sā acchidraṁ dadyāt viṣṇoḥ upāsanam॥
[तद्भक्तः (tadbhaktaḥ) - His devotee; तम् (tam) - Him; उपास्य एव (upāsya eva) - having indeed worshipped; श्रियम् (śriyam) - Śrī; ध्यायीत (dhyāyīta) - should meditate upon; नित्यदा (nityadā) - always; तेन (tena) - by him; तुष्टा (tuṣṭā) - being pleased; तु (tu) - then; सा (sā) - she; अच्छिद्रम् (acchidram) - without flaw; दद्यात् (dadyāt) - may grant; विष्णोः (viṣṇoḥ) - of Viṣṇu; उपासनम् (upāsanam) - worship;]
His devotee should always meditate upon Śrī only after worshipping Him. If pleased by that, she may grant a flawless worship of Viṣṇu.
ततस्तद्दर्शनात् मुक्तिं यात्यसौ नात्र संशयः। तथापि सर्वपरमां सर्वदोषविवर्जिताम्॥
tatas tad-darśanāt muktiṁ yāty asau na atra saṁśayaḥ। tathā api sarva-paramāṁ sarva-doṣa-vivarjitām॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तत्-दर्शनात् (tat-darśanāt) - by seeing Him; मुक्तिम् (muktim) - liberation; याति (yāti) - attains; असौ (asau) - he; न (na) - not; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṁśayaḥ) - doubt; तथापि (tathā api) - even so; सर्व-परमाम् (sarva-paramām) - the supreme of all; सर्व-दोष-विवर्जिताम् (sarva-doṣa-vivarjitām) - devoid of all defects;]
Then, by seeing Him, he attains liberation — there is no doubt. Still, she (Śrī) is supreme above all and devoid of every defect.
ज्ञात्वा श्रियं तत्परमं तत्पतिं पुरुषोत्तमम्। विज्ञायोपासते नित्यं ते हि युक्ततमा मताः॥
jñātvā śriyaṁ tat-paramaṁ tat-patiṁ puruṣottamam। vijñāya upāsate nityaṁ te hi yuktatamā matāḥ॥
[ज्ञात्वा (jñātvā) - having known; श्रियम् (śriyam) - Śrī; तत्-परमम् (tat-paramam) - Her supreme; तत्-पतिम् (tat-patim) - Her lord; पुरुषोत्तमम् (puruṣottamam) - the Supreme Person; विज्ञाय (vijñāya) - having understood; उपासते (upāsate) - they worship; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; ते (te) - they; हि (hi) - indeed; युक्ततमाः (yuktatamāḥ) - most properly united; मताः (matāḥ) - are considered;]
Those who have known Śrī as supreme, and Her lord as the Supreme Person, and worship constantly with understanding — they are indeed considered most properly devoted.
यतः क्लेशोऽधिकः तेषां पृथक् श्रियमुपासताम्। विष्णुना सहिता ध्याता सा हि तुष्टिं परां व्रजेत्॥
yataḥ kleśo'adhikaḥ teṣāṁ pṛthak śriyam upāsatām। viṣṇunā sahitā dhyātā sā hi tuṣṭiṁ parāṁ vrajet॥
[यतः (yataḥ) - because; क्लेशः अधिकः (kleśaḥ adhikaḥ) - suffering is greater; तेषाम् (teṣām) - for them; पृथक् (pṛthak) - separately; श्रियम् (śriyam) - Śrī; उपासताम् (upāsatām) - of those who worship; विष्णुना (viṣṇunā) - with Viṣṇu; सहिता (sahitā) - together; ध्याता (dhyātā) - meditated upon; सा (sā) - she; हि (hi) - indeed; तुष्टिम् (tuṣṭim) - satisfaction; पराम् (parām) - supreme; व्रजेत् (vrajet) - attains;]
Because those who worship Śrī separately suffer more; meditated together with Viṣṇu, she indeed attains supreme satisfaction.
अन्यथा तु पुनर्विष्णोः श्रीपतित्वेन चिन्तनम्। अच्छिद्रमेव कर्तव्यमिति मुक्तिश्चिराद् भवेत्। तस्मादक्लेशतो मुक्तिः क्षिप्रं विष्णुमुपासताम्॥"
anyathā tu punar viṣṇoḥ śrī-patitvena cintanam। acchidram eva kartavyam iti muktiḥ cirāt bhavet। tasmāt akleśataḥ muktiḥ kṣipraṁ viṣṇum upāsatām॥"
[अन्यथा (anyathā) - otherwise; तु (tu) - but; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; विष्णोः (viṣṇoḥ) - of Viṣṇu; श्रीपतित्वेन (śrī-patitvena) - as consort of Śrī; चिन्तनम् (cintanam) - contemplation; अच्छिद्रम् एव (acchidram eva) - flawless indeed; कर्तव्यम् (kartavyam) - should be done; इति (iti) - thus; मुक्तिः (muktiḥ) - liberation; चिरात् (cirāt) - after delay; भवेत् (bhavet) - may occur; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; अक्लेशतः (akleśataḥ) - without hardship; मुक्तिः (muktiḥ) - liberation; क्षिप्रम् (kṣipram) - quickly; विष्णुम् (viṣṇum) - Viṣṇu; उपासताम् (upāsatām) - of those who worship;]
Otherwise, one must contemplate Viṣṇu as the consort of Śrī without flaw; only then may liberation occur, though delayed. Therefore, those who worship Viṣṇu attain liberation quickly and without suffering."
इति परमश्रुतिः॥
iti parama-śrutiḥ॥
[इति (iti) - thus; परम-श्रुतिः (parama-śrutiḥ) - supreme scripture;]
- stated thus in Parama-śruti.
युक्ततमाः साधकतमाः ॥२॥
yuktatamāḥ sādhakatamāḥ॥2॥
[युक्ततमाः (yuktatamāḥ) - most integrated; साधकतमाः (sādhakatamāḥ) - most accomplished aspirants;]
The word 'yuktatamāḥ' in the context implies the most accomplished aspirants.
