B.G 4.11
yē yathā māṁ prapadyantē tāṁstathaiva bhajāmyaham। mama vartmānuvartantē manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ ॥11॥
yē = those who; yathā = as; māṁ = to me; prapadyantē = they surrender/worship; tān = them; tathā = accordingly; ēva = indeed; bhajāmi = reciprocate; aham = I;। mama = my; vartma = way; anuvartantē = are subservient; manuṣyāḥ = people; pārtha = O Arjuna; sarvaśaḥ = in all aspects;॥]
As they worship Me, accordingly I reciprocate to them. O Arjuna, humans are subsurvient to my ways in all aspects.
Gīta Bhāshya 4.11
The word "bhajāmi" is used in the current context to mean - "I partake by giving fruits". The names of multiple deities refer to one supreme lord only.
na ca madbhajanamātrēṇa muktiḥ bhavati anyadēvatādirūpēṇa। tathāpi sarvēṣām anurūpyēṇa phalaṁ dadāmi ityāha - yē yathā iti॥
[na = not; ca = even / and; madbhajanamātrēṇa = by mere partaking; muktiḥ = liberation; bhavati = happens; anyadēvatādirūpēṇa = in the other god forms;। tathāpi = that way, even; sarvēṣām = to everyone; anurūpyēṇa = according to one's deeds; phalaṁ = results; dadāmi = are granted; ityāha = this is conveyed by; yē yathā iti = "yē yathā" verse;]
By merely partaking Me in any other god forms, liberation is not obtained. Hence, it is conveyed through "yē yathā" verse, "I grant everyone the results according to their respective deeds".
bhajāmi sēvayāmi phaladānēna। na tu guṇabhāvēna। kathamayaṁ viśēṣa ityata āha - mama vartmēti॥
[bhajāmi = the word "bhajāmi" is used here in the context to mean; sēvayāmi phaladānēna = I partake by giving fruits;। na = not; tu = indeed / certainly; guṇabhāvēna = is meant to praise the qualities;। kathamayaṁ = How this; viśēṣa = speciality; ityata āha = is conveyed through; mama vartmēti = words "being subservient to my ways", in the second half of the verse; ॥]
The word "bhajāmi" is used here in the context to mean - "I partake by giving fruits". It certainly is not meant to praise the qualities (of the beings). How is this special?, is explained by stating - "being subservient to My ways".
anyadēvatāḥ yajantō'pi mama vartmaiva anuvartantē। sarvakarmakartr̥tvāt bhōktr̥tvācca mama।
[anyadēvatāḥ = other deities; yajantō'pi = even those who worship; mama = my; vartmaiva = path only; anuvartantē = they follow;। sarvakarmakartr̥tvāt = because of being the doer of all actions; bhōktr̥tvācca = and also because of being the enjoyer; mama = me ।]
Even those who worship other deities follow my path only. As I am the doer of all actions and also their enjoyer.
"योऽप्यन्यदेवता भक्ताः।"
"yō'pyanyadēvatā bhaktāḥ।"
iti vakṣyati।
["yō'pyanyadēvatā = who, even, other deities; bhaktāḥ = partakes;।"]
[iti vakṣyati = thus it is said;।]
"Even those who worship other deities"
- same is stated at B.Gita 9.23 as well.
"यो देवानां नामधा एक एव"
इति हि श्रुतिः।
"yō dēvānāṁ nāmadhā ēka ēva"
iti hi śrutiḥ।
["yō = who; dēvānāṁ = deities; nāmadhā = possessor of multiple names; ēka ēva = one only"]
[iti = thus; hi = certainly is; śrutiḥ = the Vedic testimonial;]
"Those deities possessing multiple names are one person only."
- thus asserts, with certainty, Vedic testimonial.
bhagavānēva ca tatra abhidhīyatē।
[bhagavānēva = the lord only; ca = and/even; tatra = there; abhidhīyatē = understanding is established।]
The understanding of the lord only is established in this context, by statements such as
"अजस्य नाभौ अध्येक मर्पितम्"
इत्यादि तल्लिङ्गात् ॥११॥
"ajasya nābhau adhyēka marpitam"
ityādi talliṅgāt ॥11॥
["ajasya = birthless one's; nābhau = the one with the navel; adhyēka = foremost one; marpitam = is offered to;"]
[ityādi = and similar things; talliṅgāt = are addressed to that distinguished personality. ॥11॥]
"Is offered to the unborn, the one with the navel, the foremost one..."
- addressed to that distinguished personality (showing the referred god as none other than lord Vishnu, in Padmanabha form).
