Mundaka 4.13

न तत्र सूर्यो भाति न चन्द्रतारकं नेमा विद्युतो भान्ति कुतोऽयमग्निः। तमेव भान्तमनु भाति सर्वं तस्य भासा सर्वमिदं विभाति ॥१३॥

na tatra sūryo bhāti na candratārakaṁ nemā vidyuto bhānti kuto'yam agniḥ। tam eva bhāntam anu bhāti sarvaṁ tasya bhāsā sarvam idaṁ vibhāti ॥13॥

[न (na) - not; तत्र (tatra) - there; सूर्यः (sūryaḥ) - sun; भाति (bhāti) - shines; न (na) - not; चन्द्रतारकम् (candratārakam) - moon and stars; न (na) - not; इमा (imā) - these; विद्युतः (vidyutaḥ) - lightnings; भान्ति (bhānti) - shine; कुतः (kutaḥ) - whence; अयम् (ayam) - this; अग्निः (agniḥ) - fire; तम् (tam) - that; एव (eva) - only; भान्तम् (bhāntam) - shining; अनु (anu) - after; भाति (bhāti) - shines; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; तस्य (tasya) - his; भासा (bhāsā) - light; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; इदम् (idam) - this; विभाति (vibhāti) - shines;]

In that place, the sun does not shine, nor do the moon and stars; these lightnings do not shine, so how can this fire? Everything shines following that shining one; by his light, everything here shines.

Bhāshya 4.13

The sun and other celestial bodies do not illuminate that.

सूर्यादयस्तं न भासयन्ति॥

sūryādayaḥ taṁ na bhāsayanti॥

[सूर्याः (sūryāḥ) - suns; आदयः (ādayaḥ) - and others; तम् (tam) - that; न (na) - not; भासयन्ति (bhāsayanti) - illuminate;]

The sun and other celestial bodies do not illuminate that.
