Māndukyōpanishad Bhāshya
Māndukya 2.07
अन्यथागृह्णतः स्वप्नो निद्रा तत्त्वमजानतः। विपर्यासे तयोः क्षीणे तुरीयं पदमश्नुते ॥७॥
anyathāgṛhṇataḥ svapno nidrā tattvamajānataḥ। viparyāse tayoḥ kṣīṇe turīyaṃ padamaśnute ॥7॥
[अन्यथा (anyathā) - otherwise; गृह्णतः (gṛhṇataḥ) - of the perceiver; स्वप्नः (svapnaḥ) - dream; निद्रा (nidrā) - sleep; तत्त्वम् (tattvam) - reality; अजानतः (ajānataḥ) - of the ignorant; विपर्यासे (viparyāse) - in confusion; तयोः (tayoḥ) - of the two; क्षीणे (kṣīṇe) - when diminished; तुरीयम् (turīyam) - the fourth; पदम् (padam) - state; अश्नुते (aśnute) - attains;]
When the perceiver perceives otherwise, dreams and sleep are the reality of the ignorant. When confusion of the two is diminished, one attains the fourth state.
Bhāshya 2.07
Though the dream state is illusory and defective, it is capable of generating false knowledge.
"विपरीतज्ञानादपि विपरीतज्ञानान्तरं जायते।"
"viparītajñānādapi viparītajñānāntaraṃ jāyate।"
[विपरीत (viparīta) - opposite; ज्ञानात् (jñānāt) - from knowledge; अपि (api) - also; विपरीत (viparīta) - opposite; ज्ञान (jñāna) - knowledge; अन्तरम् (antaram) - another; जायते (jāyate) - arises;]
"Even from incorrect knowledge, another form of incorrect knowledge arises."

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
