2.3.14
यदा सर्वे प्रमुच्यन्ते कामा येऽस्य हृदि स्थिताः। अथ मर्त्योऽमृतो भवति अत्र ब्रह्म समश्नुते ॥१४॥
yadā sarve pramucyante kāmā ye'sya hṛdi sthitāḥ। atha martyo'mṛto bhavati atra brahma samaśnute ॥14॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; सर्वे (sarve) - all; प्रमुच्यन्ते (pramucyante) - are released; कामा (kāmā) - desires; ये (ye) - which; अस्य (asya) - his; हृदि (hṛdi) - in the heart; स्थिताः (sthitāḥ) - reside; अथ (atha) - then; मर्त्यः (martyaḥ) - mortal; अमृतः (amṛtaḥ) - immortal; भवति (bhavati) - becomes; अत्र (atra) - here; ब्रह्म (brahma) - Brahman; समश्नुते (samaśnute) - attains;]
When all desires residing in the heart are relinquished, the mortal becomes immortal and attains Brahman here.
Bhāṣya 2.3.14
Renouncing the desires of the inner mind reveals the consciousness of the Ātmān.
अन्तःकरणकामानां त्यागो व्यक्तिश्चिदात्मानाम्। कामानां तु तदा मुक्तौ मृतिं नैवाभि यास्यति॥
antaḥkaraṇakāmānāṃ tyāgo vyaktiścidātmānām। kāmānāṃ tu tadā muktau mṛtiṃ naivābhi yāsyati॥
[अन्तःकरणकामानां (antaḥkaraṇakāmānāṃ) - of the desires of the inner mind; त्यागः (tyāgaḥ) - renunciation; व्यक्तिः (vyaktiḥ) - manifestation; चित् (cit) - consciousness; आत्मानाम् (ātmānām) - of the ātmān; कामानाम् (kāmānām) - of desires; तु (tu) - but; तदा (tadā) - then; मुक्तौ (muktau) - in liberation; मृतिम् (mṛtim) - death; न (na) - not; एव (eva) - indeed; अभियास्यति (abhiyāsyati) - will approach;]
Renouncing the desires of the inner mind reveals the consciousness of the Ātmān. However, in liberation, one does not encounter death or desires.
