Īśāvāsyopaniṣat 20
अग्ने नय सुपथा राये अस्मान् विश्वानि देव वयुनानि विद्वान्। युयोध्यस्मज्जुहुराणमेनो भूयिष्ठां ते नम उक्तिं विधेम ॥२०॥
agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān। yuyodhyasmajjuhurāṇameno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama uktiṁ vidhema ॥20॥
O Agni, lead us by the good path to prosperity; O divine one, you know all the ways of righteousness. Remove from us the crooked sin. To you we offer our fullest reverent words of praise.
Īśā.Bhāshya 20
'vayunam' - knowledge or understanding; 'juhurāṇam' - harmful forces diminishes us; 'yuyodhi' - disconnect, disjoin or liberate; 'vidhema' - the abundant offering made with devotion and knowledge;
'Vayunam' means knowledge or understanding:
"With the understanding (vayunathā) given by You, the universe was perceived."
-thus states the declration.
The 'juhurāṇam', i.e. harmful forces diminishes us. The word 'yuyodhi' means disconnect, disjoin or liberate.
"That which makes us insignificant, liberate us from that sin. Lead us to the knower of liberation - thus did Manu, the self-sovereign, praise the sacrifice."
- stated thus in the Skanda Purāṇa.
The etimological root 'Yuyu' means separation. The word 'vidhema' is an expression to denote the abundant offering made with devotion and knowledge.
Obeisance to You, O Nārāyaṇa - of full power, consciousness, and bliss, whose manifest form is auspicious radiance - my supreme and most excellent friend.
Thus concludes the commentary on the Īśāvāsya Upaniṣad composed by the venerable Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpāda Āchārya.
