Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 16.18
अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं च संश्रिताः। मामात्मपरदेहेषु प्रद्विषन्तोऽभ्यसूयकाः ॥१८॥
ahaṅkāraṁ balaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ krodhaṁ ca saṁśritāḥ। māmātmaparadeheṣu pradviṣanto'bhyasūyakāḥ ॥18॥
[अहङ्कारम् (ahaṅkāram) - ego; बलम् (balam) - strength; दर्पम् (darpam) - pride; कामम् (kāmam) - desire; क्रोधम् (krodham) - anger; च (ca) - and; संश्रिताः (saṁśritāḥ) - resorting to; माम् (mām) - Me; आत्म (ātma) - own; पर (para) - others'; देहेषु (deheṣu) - bodies; प्रद्विषन्तः (pradviṣantaḥ) - hating; अभ्यसूयकाः (abhyasūyakāḥ) - those who are inclined to find fault or criticize others;]
Those who resort to ego, strength, pride, desire, and anger, and who find fault with Me in their own and others' bodies, are envious.
Gīta Bhāshya 16.18
The phrase 'māmātmaparadeheṣu abhyasūyakāḥ' implies those who hold the view - "Vishnu does not act as the agent for anyone. If he truly is, then let him act upon me right now". Such people will surely go down.
मामात्मपरदेहेष्विति।
māmātmaparadeheṣviti।
[माम् (mām) - me; आत्म (ātma) - self; पर (para) - other; देहेषु (deheṣu) - in bodies; इति (iti) - thus;]
(me self other in bodies thus.)
The phrase 'māmātmaparadeheṣu abhyasūyakāḥ' i.e. those who find fault with Me in their own and others' bodies, implies they think:
"न कस्यचिद् विष्णुः कारयिता। यदि स्यात् मामपी इदानीं कारयतु"
"na kasyacid viṣṇuḥ kārayitā। yadi syāt māmapi idānīṃ kārayatu"
[न (na) - not; कस्यचित् (kasyacit) - anyone's; विष्णुः (viṣṇuḥ) - Viṣṇu; कारयिता (kārayitā) - causer; यदि (yadi) - if; स्यात् (syāt) - is; माम् (mām) - me; अपि (api) - also; इदानीं (idānīṃ) - now; कारयतु (kārayatu) - let cause;]
"Viṣṇu does not act as the agent for anyone. If he truly is, then let him act upon me right now."
इत्यादि।
ityādi।
[इति (iti) - thus; आदि (ādi) - beginning;]
and so forth.
"ईश्वरो यदि सर्वस्य कारकः कारयीत माम्। अद्येति वादिनं ब्रूयात् सदाधो यास्यसीति तु॥"
"īśvaro yadi sarvasya kārakaḥ kārayīta mām। adyeti vādinaṃ brūyāt sadādho yāsyasīti tu॥"
[ईश्वरः (īśvaraḥ) - God; यदि (yadi) - if; सर्वस्य (sarvasya) - of all; कारकः (kārakaḥ) - the doer; कारयीत (kārayīta) - makes do; माम् (mām) - me; अद्य (adya) - today / now; इति (iti) - thus; वादिनम् (vādinam) - to the speaker; ब्रूयात् (brūyāt) - should say; सदा (sadā) - always; अधः (adhaḥ) - down; यास्यसि (yāsyasi) - you will go; इति (iti) - thus; तु (tu) - but;]
'If God is the cause of everything, he would compel me to act' - to the one who claims thus, he would respond, 'you will always go down'.
इति हि सामवेदे यास्कश्रुतिः ॥१८॥
iti hi sāmavede yāskasr̥tiḥ ॥18॥
[इति (iti) - thus; हि (hi) - indeed; सामवेदे (sāmavede) - in the Sāmaveda; यास्कश्रुतिः (yāskasr̥tiḥ) - Yaska's tradition;]
(Thus indeed in the Sāmaveda is Yaska's tradition.)
- indeed, it is stated thus in Yaska section of the Sāmaveda.
॥ इति श्रीमदानन्दतीर्थभगवत्पादाचार्यविरचिते श्रीभगवद्गीताभाष्ये षोडशोध्यायः ॥
॥ iti śrīmadānandatīrthabhagavatpādācāryaviracite śrībhagavadgītābhāṣye ṣoḍaśodhyāyaḥ ॥
[इति (iti) - thus; श्रीमद् (śrīmad) - revered; आनन्दतीर्थ (ānandatīrtha) - Ānandatīrtha; भगवत्पाद (bhagavatpāda) - Bhagavatpāda; आचार्य (ācārya) - teacher; विरचिते (viracite) - composed; श्रीभगवद्गीता (śrībhagavadgītā) - Śrī Bhagavad Gītā; भाष्ये (bhāṣye) - commentary; षोडश (ṣoḍaśa) - sixteenth; अध्यायः (adhyāyaḥ) - chapter;]
Thus ends the sixteenth chapter of the Śrī Bhagavad Gītā commentary composed by the revered teacher Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpāda.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
