युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु। युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा ॥१७॥
yuktāhāravihārasya yuktaceṣṭasya karmasu। yuktasvapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkhahā ॥17॥
[युक्त आहार विहारस्य युक्त चेष्टस्य कर्मसु। युक्त स्वप्न अवबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा॥
युक्तः (yuktaḥ) - moderation; आहार (āhāra) - food; विहारस्य (vihārasya) - of recreation; युक्तः (yuktaḥ) - regulated; चेष्टस्य (ceṣṭasya) - of effort; कर्मसु (karmasu) - in actions; युक्तः (yuktaḥ) - regulated; स्वप्न (svapna) - sleep; अवबोधस्य (avabodhasya) - of wakefulness; योगः (yogaḥ) - yoga; भवति (bhavati) - becomes; दुःखहा (duḥkhahā) - destroyer of sorrow.]
When Yoga is practiced with moderation in diet and recreation, moderation in effort and actions, and moderation in sleep and wakefulness, it becomes the destroyer of sorrow.
Gīta Bhāshya 6.17
The expression 'yuktāhāravihārasya' refers to moderation is eating and other activities. It means having food only up to where there is an absence of fatigue.
युक्ताहारविहारस्य सोपायाहारादेः। यावता श्रमाद्यभावो भवति तावदाहारादेः इत्यर्थः ॥१७॥
