B.G 2.60
यततो ह्यपि कौन्तेय पुरुषस्य विपश्चितः। इंद्रियाणि प्रमाथीनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मनः ॥६०॥
yatatō hyapi kauntēya puruṣasya vipaścitaḥ। iṁdriyāṇi pramāthīni haranti prasabhaṁ manaḥ ॥60॥
[यततो हि अपि कौन्तेय पुरुषस्य विपश्चितः। इंद्रियाणि प्रमाथीनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मनः॥
yatatō = if, trying; hi = certainly; api = inspite of; kauntēya = O Arjuna; puruṣasya = of the person; vipaścitaḥ = who has discreminatory knowledge; iṁdriyāṇi = the senses; pramāthīni = harmful to the chaacter; haranti = carries away; prasabhaṁ = by force; manaḥ = the mind;]
O Arjuna, certainly, in-spite of trying, the senses that are harmful for one's character carry away the mind forcefully, even of the person with discriminatory knowledge.
Gīta Bhāshya 2.60
Person indicated in this verse is the one with ordinary knowledge, not transcendental. 'pramāthīni' - harmful to the character of the person.
अपरोक्षज्ञानरहितज्ञानिनोपि, साधारणयत्नवतोपि मनो हरन्ति इद्रियाणि। पुरुषस्य शरीराभिमानिनः को दोषस्ततः?
aparōkṣajñānarahitajñāninōpi, sādhāraṇayatnavatōpi manō haranti idriyāṇi। puruṣasya śarīrābhimāninaḥ kō dōṣastataḥ?
[aparōkṣajñānarahitajñāninōpi = even the knowledgeable without transcendental knowledge; sādhāraṇayatnavatōpi = one who is engaged in normal endevours; manō = mind; haranti = is carried away; idriyāṇi = by senses; puruṣasya = persons; śarīrābhimāninaḥ = who is engrossed in seeking pleasure for material body; kō dōṣastataḥ = what falult is there?]
Even the mind of the materially knowledgeable without transcendental knowledge, who is engaged in normal endeavours, is carried away by senses. What fault is there in those engrossed in seeking pleasure for the physical body.
प्रमाथीनि प्रमथनशीलानि पुरुषस्य ॥६०॥
pramāthīni pramathanaśīlāni puruṣasya ॥60॥
[pramāthīni = 'pramāthīni' means; prapramathanaśīlāni = those which endanger the character; puruṣasya = of the person;]
'pramāthīni' means those which endanger the character of the person.
