B.G 2.11
श्रीभगवानुवाच। अशोच्यानन्वशोचस्त्वं प्रज्ञावादांश्च भाषसे। गतासूनगतासूंश्च नानुशोचन्ति पण्डिताः ॥ २-११॥
śrībhagavānuvāca। aśōcyānanvaśōcastvaṁ prajñāvādāṁśca bhāṣasē। gatāsūnagatāsūṁśca nānuśōcanti paṇḍitāḥ ॥ 2-11॥
[śrībhagavān uvāca = Sri Bhagavan said; aśōcyān = that should not be grieved; anvaśōcastvaṁ = You grieve for those; prajñā vādāṁśca = seemingly wise words (reasoned in your own way); bhāṣasē = and speak; gatāsūn = either for the dead; agatāsūṁśca = or for the living; nānuśōcanti = do not grieve; paṇḍitāḥ = The wise.]
Sri Bhagavan said: You grieve for those that should not be grieved for and speak seemingly wise words reasoned in your own way. The wise grieve neither for the dead nor for the living.
Gīta Bhāshya 2.11
The wise grieve neither for the dead nor for the living
प्रज्ञावादान् स्वमनीषोत्थवचनानि। कथमशोच्याः? गतासून् ॥११ ॥
prajñāvādān svamanīṣōtthavacanāni। kathamaśōcyāḥ? gatāsūn ॥11 ॥
[prajñā vādān = Here 'prajñāvādān' means; sva manīṣōttha = based on one's own intelligence; vacanāni = thoughts; katham aśōcyāḥ? = Why should one not worry?; gatāsūn = by the hymn 'gatasoon';]
Here 'prajñāvādān' means thoughts based on one's own intelligence. Why should not one worry? - the wise grieve neither for the dead nor for the living.
