Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 14.05
सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति गुणाः प्रकृतिसम्भवाः। निबध्नन्ति महाबाहो देहे देहिनमव्ययम् ॥५॥
sattvaṁ rajastama iti guṇāḥ prakṛtisambhavāḥ। nibadhnanti mahābāho dehe dehinamavyayam ॥5॥
[सत्त्वम् (sattvam) - goodness; रजः (rajaḥ) - passion; तमः (tamaḥ) - ignorance; इति (iti) - thus; गुणाः (guṇāḥ) - qualities; प्रकृतिसम्भवाः (prakṛtisambhavāḥ) - born of Prakrti; निबध्नन्ति (nibadhnanti) - bind; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; देहे (dehe) - in the body; देहिनम् (dehinam) - the embodied; अव्ययम् (avyayam) - immutable;]
O mighty-armed one, the qualities of goodness, passion, and ignorance, which are born of Prakrti, bind the immutable embodied one to the body.
Gīta Bhāshya 14.05
Types of bondage to the qualities such as 'sattva', etc. are described for the purpose of 'sādhanānuṣṭhāna', i.e. spiritual practice.
बन्धप्रकारं दर्शयति साधनानुष्ठानाय - सत्त्वमित्यादिना ॥५॥
bandhaprakāraṃ darśayati sādhanānuṣṭhānāya - sattvamityādinā ॥5॥
[बन्धप्रकारं (bandhaprakāraṃ) - type of bondage; दर्शयति (darśayati) - shows; साधनानुष्ठानाय (sādhanānuṣṭhānāya) - for the practice of means; सत्त्वमित्यादिना (sattvamityādinā) - by 'sattva' and so on;]
The text illustrates the type of bondage for 'sādhanānuṣṭhānāya', i.e. practicing spiritual means, beginning with 'sattva' and others.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
