Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 2.61
तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः। वशे हि यस्येंद्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥६१॥
tāni sarvāṇi saṃyamya yukta āsīta matparaḥ। vaśe hi yasya indriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā ॥61॥
[तानि (tāni) - those; सर्वाणि (sarvāṇi) - all; संयम्य (saṃyamya) - having restrained; युक्तः (yuktaḥ) - self-controlled; आसीत् (āsīt) - should sit; मत्परः (matparaḥ) - with mind intent on Me; वशे (vaśe) - under control; हि (hi) - indeed; यस्य (yasya) - whose; इन्द्रियाणि (indriyāṇi) - senses; तस्य (tasya) - his; प्रज्ञा (prajñā) - wisdom; प्रतिष्ठिता (pratiṣṭhitā) - is established;]
(Let one, having restrained all those (senses), sit self-controlled, with the mind intent on Me. For, whose senses are under control, his wisdom is firmly established.)
Having restrained all the senses, he should sit meditating on me with the understanding that I (lord Krishna) am superior to everything else. He certainly obtains control over his senses, and for such a person, wisdom is steadfast.
Gīta Bhāshya 2.61
With effort, it is possible to bring senses under control. 'yuktaḥ' - who has joined lord in the mind. 'matparaḥ' - with understanding that I am (lord Krishna) is superior to everything else. Steadfast wisdom results from such a meditation.
तर्हि अशक्यान्येव इत्यत आह- तानीति। बहुयत्नवतः शक्यानि। अतो यत्नं कुर्यात् इत्याशयः।
tarhi aśakyānyeva ityata āha- tānīti. bahuyatnavataḥ śakyāni. ato yatnaṃ kuryāt ityāśayaḥ.
[तर्हि (tarhi) - then; अशक्यानि (aśakyāni) - impossible; एव (eva) - indeed; इत्यत (ityata) - thus; आह (āha) - he said; तानीति (tānīti) - those (are); बहुयत्नवतः (bahuyatnavataḥ) - of one with much effort; शक्यानि (śakyāni) - possible; अतः (ataḥ) - therefore; यत्नं (yatnaṃ) - effort; कुर्यात् (kuryāt) - should make; इत्याशयः (ityāśayaḥ) - this is the intention;]
(Then he said, 'They are indeed impossible.' However, for one who puts in much effort, they are possible. Therefore, one should make an effort; this is the intended meaning.)
If one thinks it is not possible (to control senses), then he is advised by 'tānīti' verse. It becomes possible (to control the senses) with a lot of effort. Therefore, it is recommended that one should put more effort.
युक्तः मयि मनोयुक्तः। अहमेव परः सर्वस्मात् उत्कृष्टः यस्य सः मत्परः। फलमाह - वशेहीति ॥६१॥
yuktaḥ mayi manoyuktaḥ। aham eva paraḥ sarvasmāt utkṛṣṭaḥ yasya saḥ matparaḥ। phalam āha - vaśehīti ॥61॥
[युक्तः (yuktaḥ) - joined; मयि (mayi) - in me; मनोयुक्तः (manoyuktaḥ) - with mind joined; अहम् (aham) - I; एव (eva) - only; परः (paraḥ) - supreme; सर्वस्मात् (sarvasmāt) - than all; उत्कृष्टः (utkṛṣṭaḥ) - excellent; यस्य (yasya) - whose; सः (saḥ) - he; मत्परः (matparaḥ) - who is devoted to me; फलम् (phalam) - fruit; आह (āha) - said; वशेहीति (vaśehīti) - 'be under control';]
(He who is joined, whose mind is fixed on me, for whom I alone am the supreme and excellent above all, and who is devoted to me — the result is stated: 'be under control.')
'yuktaḥ' means one who has joined with Me is his mind, i.e. meditating on me. A person with the understanding that I am only 'paraḥ' , the transcendental, i.e. I am superior to everything else, is called 'matparaḥ' . Result obtained (by such meditation) is stated in 'vaśē' verse.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
