Shaṭpraśnopaniṣat Bhāshya (षट्प्रश्नोपनिषद्भाष्यं)

अन्नं वै प्रजापतिः। ततो ह वै तद्रेतः। तस्मादिमाः प्रजाः प्रजायन्त इति। तद्ये ह वै तत्प्रजापतिव्रतं चरन्ति। ये मिथुनमुत्पादयन्ते। तेषामेवैष ब्रह्मलोको येषां तपो ब्रह्मचर्यं येषु सत्यं प्रतिष्ठितम्। तेषामसौ विरजो ब्रह्मलोको न येषु जिह्ममनृतं न माया चेति ॥१०॥

annaṃ vai prajāpatiḥ। tato ha vai tadretaḥ। tasmādimāḥ prajāḥ prajāyanta iti। tadye ha vai tatprajāpativrataṃ caranti। ye mithunamutpādayante। teṣāmevaiṣa brahmaloko yeṣāṃ tapo brahmacaryaṃ yeṣu satyaṃ pratiṣṭhitam। teṣāmasau virajo brahmaloko na yeṣu jihmamanṛtaṃ na māyā ceti ॥10॥

[अन्नम् (annam) - food; वै (vai) - indeed; प्रजापतिः (prajāpatiḥ) - Prajapati; ततः (tataḥ) - then; ह (ha) - indeed; वै (vai) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; रेतः (retaḥ) - seed; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - from that; इमाः (imāḥ) - these; प्रजाः (prajāḥ) - creatures; प्रजायन्ते (prajāyante) - are born; इति (iti) - thus; तत् (tat) - that; ये (ye) - who; ह (ha) - indeed; वै (vai) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; प्रजापतिव्रतम् (prajāpativratam) - vow of Prajapati; चरन्ति (caranti) - perform; ये (ye) - who; मिथुनम् (mithunam) - union; उत्पादयन्ते (utpādayante) - produce; तेषाम् (teṣām) - their; एव (eva) - only; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; ब्रह्मलोकः (brahmalokaḥ) - world of Brahman; येषाम् (yeṣām) - whose; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; ब्रह्मचर्यम् (brahmacaryam) - celibacy; येषु (yeṣu) - in whom; सत्यम् (satyam) - truth; प्रतिष्ठितम् (pratiṣṭhitam) - is established; तेषाम् (teṣām) - their; असौ (asau) - that; विरजः (virajaḥ) - pure; ब्रह्मलोकः (brahmalokaḥ) - world of Brahman; न (na) - not; येषु (yeṣu) - in whom; जिह्मम् (jihmam) - crookedness; अनृतम् (anṛtam) - falsehood; न (na) - not; माया (māyā) - deception; च (ca) - and; इति (iti) - thus;]

Food is truly the essence of creation, symbolized by Prajapati. From food arises the seed, and from the seed, all creatures are born. Those who uphold the vow of Prajapati and engage in the creation of life attain the realm of Brahman, where austerity, celibacy, and truth prevail. This pure realm is reserved for those free from deceit, falsehood, and illusion.

॥इति प्रथम प्रश्नप्रतिवचनम्॥

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
