Mundaka 3.04
अग्निर्मूर्धा चक्षुषी चन्द्रसूर्यौ दिशः श्रोत्रे वाग् विवृताश्च वेदाः। वायुः प्राणो हृदयं विश्वमस्य पद्भ्यां पृथिवी ह्येष सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा ॥४॥
agnirmūrdhā cakṣuṣī candrasūryau diśaḥ śrotre vāg vivṛtāśca vedāḥ। vāyuḥ prāṇo hṛdayaṃ viśvamasya padbhyāṃ pṛthivī hyeṣa sarvabhūtāntarātmā ॥4॥
[अग्निः (agniḥ) - fire; मूर्धा (mūrdhā) - head; चक्षुषी (cakṣuṣī) - eyes; चन्द्रसूर्यौ (candrasūryau) - moon and sun; दिशः (diśaḥ) - directions; श्रोत्रे (śrotre) - ears; वाक् (vāk) - speech; विवृताः (vivṛtāḥ) - manifest; च (ca) - and; वेदाः (vedāḥ) - Vedas; वायुः (vāyuḥ) - air; प्राणः (prāṇaḥ) - life force; हृदयं (hṛdayaṃ) - heart; विश्वम् (viśvam) - universe; अस्य (asya) - of this; पद्भ्याम् (padbhyām) - by the feet; पृथिवी (pṛthivī) - earth; हि (hi) - indeed; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; सर्वभूत (sarvabhūta) - all beings; अन्तरात्मा (antarātmā) - inner ātmā;]
Fire is the head; the eyes are the moon and the sun; the directions are the ears; speech manifests as the Vedas. Air is the life-force; the heart is the universe; the earth is by the feet; indeed, this is the inner Ātman of all beings.
Bhāshya 3.04
Lord Vishnu, the inner Ātman, is stationed everywhere in various forms because of his infinite power and playful nature.
"विष्ण्वङ्गानां हि नामानि द्युभ्वादीनि तु सर्वशः। क्रीडादिशक्तिरूपत्वात् तज्जत्वादन्यवस्तुषु॥"
"viṣṇvaṅgānāṃ hi nāmāni dyubhvādīni tu sarvaśaḥ। krīḍādiśaktirūpatvāt tajjatvādanyavastuṣu॥"
[विष्ण्वङ्गानां (viṣṇvaṅgānāṃ) - of the limbs of Vishnu; हि (hi) - indeed; नामानि (nāmāni) - names; द्युभ्वादीनि (dyubhvādīni) - beginning with heaven and earth; तु (tu) - but; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - by all; क्रीडादिशक्तिरूपत्वात् (krīḍādiśaktirūpatvāt) - due to the nature of play and other powers; तज्जत्वात् (tajjatvāt) - due to being that; अन्यवस्तुषु (anyavastuṣu) - in other things;]
"Indeed, the names of the limbs of Vishnu, beginning with heaven and earth, are entirely due to the nature of his power and play, he being that is other things."
