Mundaka 2.09

अविद्यायां बहुधाः वर्तमानाः स्वयं कृतार्था इत्यभिमन्यन्ति बालाः। यत्कर्मिणो न प्रवेदयन्ति रागात् तेनातुरा क्षीणलोकाश्च्यवन्ते ॥९॥

avidyāyāṃ bahudhāḥ vartamānāḥ svayaṃ kṛtārthā ityabhimanyante bālāḥ। yatkarmiṇo na pravedayanti rāgāt tenāturā kṣīṇalokāścyavante ॥9॥

[अविद्यायाम् (avidyāyām) - in ignorance; बहुधाः (bahudhāḥ) - many ways; वर्तमानाः (vartamānāḥ) - existing; स्वयम् (svayam) - themselves; कृतार्थाः (kṛtārthāḥ) - accomplished; इति (iti) - thus; अभिमन्यन्ति (abhimanyante) - think; बालाः (bālāḥ) - fools; यत् (yat) - because; कर्मिणः (karmiṇaḥ) - the performers of actions; न (na) - not; प्रवेदयन्ति (pravedayanti) - understand; रागात् (rāgāt) - due to attachment; तेन (tena) - by that; आतुराः (āturāḥ) - distressed; क्षीणलोकाः (kṣīṇalokāḥ) - those whose world is destroyed; च्यवन्ते (cyavante) - fall down;]

Fools, existing in many ways of ignorance, think themselves accomplished. The performers of actions do not understand due to attachment; they become distressed and fall down, their world destroyed.
