2.1.06
यः पूर्वं तपसोऽजातमद्भ्यः पूर्वमजायत। गुहां प्रविश्य तिष्ठन्तं यो भूतेभिर्व्यपश्यत। एतद्वै तत् ॥६॥
He, the unborn, who was before the penance, and created before from the cosmic waters, who entering the cave (of the heart), stood there as witness with the beings - this indeed is that ultimate reality.
Bhāṣya 2.1.06
The word 'ajāyata' here has a hidden meaning 'caused to be born'. It is the Lord Viṣṇu, the Unborn, who transcends all beings, who is ever-present in the heart, who causes even Lord Brahma to be born from the cosmic waters.
"अम्नामभ्यश्च भूतेभ्यः तपोनाम्नः शिवादपि। पूर्वं यो जनयामास पूर्वाजातं चतुर्मुखम्॥
स्वात्मानं च गुहासंस्थं सर्वभूतैस्सहाभिभूः। यः पश्यति सदा विष्णुः स एष हृदि संस्थितः॥"
इति च॥
"The one who, even before Shiva, created the four-faced Brahma, the first-born, from the Vedas, the elements, and the penance.
The one who perceives, the Lord Viṣṇu, ever-present in the heart and transcending all beings, is indeed situated within the heart."
-stated thus.
यथा मुखादिन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च इत्यादिना जाता एव इन्द्रादयः कश्यपात् पुनर्जायन्ते न तथा भगवतो ब्रह्मा। किन्तु अजातमेव अद्भ्यः पूर्वं अजायत जनयामास। अजायतेति जज्ञे बहुज्ञम् इतिवत् अन्तर्णीतणिच् ॥६॥
Just as Indra and Agni were born from the mouth and others, Indra and others are born again from Kashyapa. However, the Lord Brahma is not like this. Instead, he was born of the unborn, from the cosmic waters before. The word 'ajāyata' here has a hidden meaning, inferring caused to be born like the omniscient.
