B.G 3.10, 11, 12, and 13
सह यज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः। अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक् ॥१०॥
saha yajñāḥ prajāḥ sr̥ṣṭvā purōvāca prajāpatiḥ। anēna prasaviṣyadhvamēṣa vō'stviṣṭakāmadhuk ॥10॥
[सह यज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरा उवाच प्रजापतिः। अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वम् एष वः अस्तु इष्ट कामधुक्॥
saha = along with; yajñāḥ = sacrifice; prajāḥ = beings, population; sr̥ṣṭvā = created; purā = previously, at ancient times; uvāca = said; prajāpatiḥ = the lord of the beings; anēna = by means of this; prasaviṣyadhvam = propogate, prosper; ēṣa = this; vaḥ = your; astu = let it be; iṣṭa = wishes; kāmadhuk = fulfiller of, desired;]
Previously, the lord of the beings created the beings together with Yajna and said "Prosper by means of Yajna. Let it fulfill your desired wishes."
देवान् भावयताऽनेन ते देवा भावयन्तु वः। परस्परं भावयन्तः श्रेयः परमावाप्स्यथ ॥११॥
dēvān bhāvayatā'nēna tē dēvā bhāvayantu vaḥ। parasparaṁ bhāvayantaḥ śrēyaḥ paramāvāpsyatha ॥11॥
[देवान् भावयता अनेन ते देवा भावयन्तु वः। परस्परं भावयन्तः श्रेयः परम् अवाप्स्यथ॥
dēvān = the gods; bhāvayatā = pleasing; anēna = by means of this; tē = those; dēvā = gods; bhāvayantu = will please; vaḥ = you; parasparaṁ = mutually, each other; bhāvayantaḥ = benefitting; śrēyaḥ = good; param = highest; avāpsyatha = you will obtain;]
Please the gods through Yajna, then those gods will please you. By such mutually benefitting activities, you will obtain the highest good.
इष्टान् भोगान् हि वो देवा दास्यन्ते यज्ञभाविताः। तैर्दत्तानप्रदायैभ्यो यो भुङ्क्ते स्तेन एव सः ॥१२॥
iṣṭān bhōgān hi vō dēvā dāsyantē yajñabhāvitāḥ। tairdattānapradāyaibhyō yō bhuṅktē stēna ēva saḥ ॥12॥
[इष्टान् भोगान् हि वो देवा दास्यन्ते यज्ञ भाविताः। तैः दत्तान् अप्रदाय एभ्यो यो भुङ्क्ते स्तेन एव सः॥
iṣṭān = wishes; bhōgān = objects of desire; hi = certainly; vō = those; dēvā = gods; dāsyantē = grant /bestow; yajña = 'Yajna'; bhāvitāḥ = in the spirit of; taiḥ = thus, by them; dattān = given; apradāya = without offering; ēbhyō = them; yō = one who; bhuṅktē = enjoys; stēna = is a thief; ēva = even; saḥ = he;]
The gods certainly grant wishes and objects of desire in the spirit of Yajna. The one who enjoys such given objects without offering them is certainly a thief.
यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः। भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात्॥१३॥
yajñaśiṣṭāśinaḥ santō mucyantē sarvakilbiṣaiḥ। bhuñjatē tē tvaghaṁ pāpā yē pacantyātmakāraṇāt ॥13॥
[यज्ञशिष्ट अशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्व किल्बिषैः। भुञ्जते ते तु अघं पापा ये पचन्ति आत्म कारणात्॥
yajñaśiṣṭa = that which remains after the 'Yajna'; aśinaḥ = eaters; santō = those righteous; mucyantē = are freed; sarva = from all; kilbiṣaiḥ = all defects; bhuñjatē = eat; tē = those; tu = but; aghaṁ = severe; pāpā = sins; yē pacanti = those who cook; ātma kāraṇāt = for selfish needs;]
The righteous who partake the remains of the 'Yajna' are freed from all defects. But, those who cook for selfish needs eat severe sins.
