Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 10.31
पवनः पवतामस्मि रामः शस्त्रभृतामहम्। झषाणां मकरश्चास्मि स्रोतसामस्मि जाह्नवी ॥३१॥
pavanaḥ pavatām asmi rāmaḥ śastra-bhṛtām aham। jhaṣāṇāṁ makaraś ca asmi srotasām asmi jāhnavī ॥31॥
[पवनः (pavanaḥ) - the wind; पवताम् (pavatām) - among purifiers; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; रामः (rāmaḥ) - Rāma; शस्त्र-भृताम् (śastra-bhṛtām) - among wielders of weapons; अहम् (aham) - I am; झषाणाम् (jhaṣāṇām) - among aquatic creatures; मकरः (makaraḥ) - the makara (mythical sea creature); च (ca) - and; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; स्रोतसाम् (srotasām) - among rivers/streams; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; जाह्नवी (jāhnavī) - the Jāhnavī (Gaṅgā);]
I am the wind among purifiers, Rāma among wielders of weapons; among aquatic creatures, I am the makara, and among rivers, I am the Gaṅgā (Jāhnavī).
Gīta Bhāshya 10.31
'Rāma' - one who is of the nature of bliss, complete, and delights the worlds.
आनन्दरूपत्वात् पूर्णत्वात् लोकरमणाच्च रामः।
ānanda-rūpatvāt pūrṇatvāt loka-ramaṇāt ca rāmaḥ
[आनन्दरूपत्वात् (ānanda-rūpatvāt) - due to being of the nature of bliss; पूर्णत्वात् (pūrṇatvāt) - due to completeness; लोकरमणात् च (loka-ramaṇāt ca) - and because He delights the worlds; रामः (rāmaḥ) - He is called Rāma;]
He is called Rāma because He is of the nature of bliss, complete, and delights the worlds.
"आनन्दरूपो निष्परीमाण एष लोकश्चैतस्मात् रमते तेन रामः।"
"ānanda-rūpo niṣparīmāṇa eṣa lokaś ca etasmāt ramate tena rāmaḥ"
[आनन्दरूपः (ānanda-rūpaḥ) - of the form of bliss; निष्परीमाणः (niṣparīmāṇaḥ) - without limit; एषः (eṣaḥ) - He; लोकः च (lokaḥ ca) - and the world; एतस्मात् (etasmāt) - from Him; रमते (ramate) - delights; तेन (tena) - therefore; रामः (rāmaḥ) - He is called Rāma;]
"He is of the nature of bliss, immeasurable; and the world delights in Him — therefore He is called Rāma."

[इति (iti) - thus; शाण्डिल्य-शाखायाम् (śāṇḍilya-śākhāyām) - in the Śāṇḍilya branch (recension);]

रश्च अमश्च इति व्युत्पत्तिः ॥३१॥
raś ca amaś ca iti vyutpattiḥ ॥31॥
[रः च (raḥ ca) - 'ra' and; अमः च (amaḥ ca) - 'ama'; इति (iti) - thus; व्युत्पत्तिः (vyutpattiḥ) - etymology or derivation;]
The etymological derivation is ‘ra’ + ‘ama’.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
