अथ व्यवस्थितान्दृष्ट्वा धार्तराष्ट्रान् कपिध्वजः। प्रवृत्ते शस्त्रसम्पाते धनुरुद्यम्य पाण्डवः ॥१-२०॥

atha vyavasthitāndṛṣṭvā dhārtarāṣṭrān kapidhvajaḥ। pravṛtte śastrasampāte dhanurudyamya pāṇḍavaḥ ॥1-20॥

[अथ (atha) - then; व्यवस्थितान् (vyavasthitān) - arrayed; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - seeing; धार्तराष्ट्रान् (dhārtarāṣṭrān) - the sons of Dhritarashtra; कपिध्वजः (kapidhvajaḥ) - he whose flag is marked with Hanuman; प्रवृत्ते (pravṛtte) - when commenced; शस्त्रसम्पाते (śastrasampāte) - the discharge of weapons; धनुः (dhanuḥ) - bow; उद्यम्य (udyamya) - having taken up; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pandu;]

Then, as the battle was about to begin, seeing the sons of Dhritarashtra arrayed for battle, Arjuna, whose chariot bore the flag of Hanuman, lifted his bow.
