Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya
B.G 13.19
इति क्षेत्रं तथा ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं चोक्तं समासतः। मद्भक्त एतद्विज्ञाय मद्भावायोपपद्यते ॥१९॥
iti kṣetraṃ tathā jñānaṃ jñeyaṃ coktaṃ samāsataḥ। madbhakta etadvijñāya madbhāvāyopapadyate ॥19॥
[इति (iti) - thus; क्षेत्रं (kṣetraṃ) - field; तथा (tathā) - and; ज्ञानं (jñānaṃ) - knowledge; ज्ञेयम् (jñeyam) - knowable; च (ca) - and; उक्तं (uktaṃ) - said; समासतः (samāsataḥ) - in brief; मद्भक्तः (madbhaktaḥ) - my devotee; एतत् (etat) - this; विज्ञाय (vijñāya) - having known; मद्भावाय (madbhāvāya) - capacity to perceive the feeling of my state within.; उपपद्यते (upapadyate) - attains;]
(Thus, the field, knowledge, and the knowable have been said in brief. My devotee, having known this, attains to my nature.)
Thus, the field, knowledge, and the knowable have been described briefly. My devotee, by understanding this, attains the ability to feel my presence within.
Gīta Bhāshya 13.19
At first, when the practitioner is still of a distorted nature, the means to be employed was instructed. The current verse describes the effect of devoutly employing such means.
विकारान्तर्भावात् ज्ञानसाधनं प्रथमतः उक्तम्। बहुत्वात् साधनात्युपयोगात् प्रभावः ॥१९॥
vikārāntarbhāvāt jñānasādhanaṃ prathamataḥ uktam। bahutvāt sādhanātyupayogāt prabhāvaḥ ॥19॥
[विकार (vikāra) - distorted nature; अन्तर्भावात् (antarbhāvāt) - inclusion; ज्ञान (jñāna) - knowledge; साधनं (sādhanaṃ) - means; प्रथमतः (prathamataḥ) - firstly; उक्तम् (uktam) - said; बहुत्वात् (bahutvāt) - due to multiplicity; साधन (sādhana) - means; अत्युपयोगात् (atyupayogāt) - excessive use; प्रभावः (prabhāvaḥ) - effect;]
(Due to the inclusion of modification, the means of knowledge was firstly said. Due to the multiplicity and excessive use of means, there is an effect.)
At first, because of distorted nature, the means of knowledge was spoken. The effect arises from the use of means with excessive striving.
Gīta Tātparya 13.19
'madbhāvāya' - capacity to perceive or feel of my state within.
मद्भावाय मयि भावाय ॥१९॥
madbhāvāya mayi bhāvāya ॥19॥
[मद्भावाय (madbhāvāya) - for my state; मयि (mayi) - in me; भावाय (bhāvāya) - for the feeling;]
(For my state, in me, for the feeling.)
The word 'madbhāvāya' is split into 'mayi bhāvāya', i.e. the feeling of my state within.
