Bhagavad Gīta Bhāshya and Tātparya

B.G 2.34

अकीर्तिं चापि भूतानि कथयिष्यन्ति तेऽव्ययाम्। सम्भावितस्य चाकीर्तिर्मरणादतिरिच्यते ॥२-३४॥

akīrtiṃ cāpi bhūtāni kathayiṣyanti te'vyayām। sambhāvitasya cākīrtirmaraṇād atiricyate ॥2-34॥

[अकीर्तिम् (akīrtim) - infamy; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; भूतानि (bhūtāni) - beings; कथयिष्यन्ति (kathayiṣyanti) - will speak; ते (te) - your; अव्ययाम् (avyayām) - eternal; सम्भावितस्य (sambhāvitasya) - for the honored; च (ca) - and; अकीर्तिः (akīrtiḥ) - infamy; मरणात् (maraṇāt) - than death; अतिरिच्यते (atiricyate) - is considered greater;]

(People will speak of your eternal infamy, and for a person who has been honored, infamy is worse than death.)

Besides, people will recount your ever lasting ill fame and for the highly esteemed, disrepute is worse than death.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
