Tantrasāra Saṅgraha

nārāyaṇāṣṭākṣarācca vyāhr̥titriguṇātpunaḥ। vēdamātā tu gāyatrī dviguṇā dvādaśākṣarāt ॥14॥

By recitation of the Nārāyana eight syllable mantra three times manifests the mother of Vēdas Gāyatrī mantra. It is also obtained by reciting twice the twelve letter mantra.

3 x 8 syllables of "Ōm-Na-Mo-Nā-Rā-Ya-Nā-Ya" = 24 syllables of Gāyatrī
2 X 12 syllables of "Ōm Na-Mō Bha-Ga-Va-Tē Vā-Su-Dē-Vā-Ya" = 24 syllables of Gāyatrī

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
