Kāthakopaniṣat Bhāshya (काठकोपनिषत् )
1.2.18
न जायते म्रियते वा विपश्चिन्नायं कुतश्चित् न बभूव कश्चित्। अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो न हन्यते हन्यमानेऽपि देहे ॥१८॥
na jāyate mriyate vā vipaścinnāyaṁ kutaścit na babhūva kaścit। ajo nityaḥ śāśvato'yaṁ purāṇo na hanyate hanyamāne'pi dehe॥18॥
[न (na) - not; जायते (jāyate) - is born; म्रियते (mriyate) - dies; वा (vā) - or; विपश्चित् (vipaścit) - the wise one; न (na) - not; अयम् (ayam) - this; कुतश्चित् (kutaścit) - from anywhere; न (na) - not; बभूव (babhūva) - has come into being; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; अजः (ajaḥ) - unborn; नित्यः (nityaḥ) - eternal; शाश्वतः (śāśvataḥ) - everlasting; अयम् (ayam) - this; पुराणः (purāṇaḥ) - ancient; न (na) - not; हन्यते (hanyate) - is killed; हन्यमाने (hanyamāne) - when being killed; अपि (api) - even; देहे (dehe) - in the body;]
The wise one is not born nor does he die; he has not come into being from anywhere, nor did anyone bring him forth. He is unborn, eternal, everlasting, ancient; he is not slain even when the body is slain.
Bhāṣya 1.2.18
Creation and destruction of the body are called origination and cessation even for the wise, but Viṣṇu is not born from anywhere — everything arises from His glance. For the knower, there is no becoming or unbecoming, because no being originates by itself; it is born only due to bodily connection. But the wise one, due to absence of such connection, is neither born nor dies.
"देहोत्पत्तिविनाशाख्यौ ज्ञानिनोऽप्युद्भवाभवौ। न कुतश्चिद्यतो विष्णुः जायतेऽतस्तदीक्षणात्॥ भावाभावौ न विदुषो यस्माज्जीवो न कश्चन। जायते म्रियते वापि स्वरूपेण कथञ्चन॥ अजो नित्योऽविकारश्च जीवः पुरमणन्नपि॥"
"dehotpatti-vināśākhyau jñānino'pyudbhavābhavau। na kutaścid yato viṣṇuḥ jāyate'atas tadīkṣaṇāt॥ bhāvābhāvau na viduṣo yasmāj jīvo na kaścana। jāyate mriyate vāpi svarūpeṇa kathañcana॥ ajaḥ nityaḥ avikāraḥ ca jīvaḥ puram aṇan api॥"
[देह-उत्पत्ति-विनाश-अख्यौ (deha-utpatti-vināśa-akhyau) - said to be creation and destruction of the body; ज्ञानिनः अपि (jñāninaḥ api) - even of the wise; उद्भव-अभावौ (udbhava-abhāvau) - origination and cessation; न कुतश्चित् (na kutaścit) - from nowhere; यतः विष्णुः (yataḥ viṣṇuḥ) - because Viṣṇu; जायते (jāyate) - is born; अतः तद्-ईक्षणात् (ataḥ tad-īkṣaṇāt) - therefore by His glance; भाव-अभावौ (bhāva-abhāvau) - existence and non-existence; न विदुषः (na viduṣaḥ) - not of the knower; यस्मात् जीवः (yasmāt jīvaḥ) - because the being; न कश्चन (na kaścana) - no one; जायते म्रियते वा अपि (jāyate mriyate vā api) - is born or dies; स्वरूपेण कथञ्चन (svarūpeṇa kathañcana) - in its own essence in any way; अजः (ajaḥ) - unborn; नित्यः (nityaḥ) - eternal; अविकारः च (avikāraḥ ca) - and changeless; जीवः (jīvaḥ) - the being; पुरम् अणन् अपि (puram aṇan api) - though moving in the body;]

अयं भगवान् कुतोऽपि न बभूव यस्मादतः तद्वेत्तापि विपश्चित् न जायते न म्रियते च। यतः कश्चिज्जीवः स्वतो न बभूव। देहसम्बन्धादेव जायते। विपश्चित्तु देहसम्बन्धाभावात् न जायते न म्रियते च॥
ayaṁ bhagavān kuto'pi na babhūva yasmād ataḥ tad-vettā api vipaścit na jāyate na mriyate ca। yataḥ kaścid jīvaḥ svataḥ na babhūva। deha-sambandhād eva jāyate। vipaścit tu deha-sambandhābhāvāt na jāyate na mriyate ca॥
[अयम् (ayam) - this; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the Lord; कुतः अपि (kutaḥ api) - from anywhere; न बभूव (na babhūva) - did not originate; यस्मात् (yasmāt) - because; अतः (ataḥ) - therefore; तद्वेत्ता अपि (tad-vettā api) - even the knower of that; विपश्चित् (vipaścit) - the wise one; न जायते (na jāyate) - is not born; न म्रियते च (na mriyate ca) - and does not die; यतः (yataḥ) - because; कश्चित् जीवः (kaścid jīvaḥ) - any being; स्वतः (svataḥ) - by itself; न बभूव (na babhūva) - did not arise; देहसम्बन्धात् एव (deha-sambandhāt eva) - only due to bodily connection; जायते (jāyate) - is born; विपश्चित् तु (vipaścit tu) - but the wise one; देहसम्बन्धाभावात् (deha-sambandhābhāvāt) - due to absence of bodily connection; न जायते (na jāyate) - is not born; न म्रियते च (na mriyate ca) - and does not die;]
This Lord did not originate from anywhere; therefore, even the wise knower of that is neither born nor dies. Because no being originates by itself; it is born only due to bodily connection. But the wise one, due to absence of such connection, is neither born nor dies.

बहुचित्रजगद्बहुधाकरणात् परशक्तिरनन्तगुणः परमः ।
सुखरूपममुष्य पदं परमं स्मरतस्तु भविष्यति तत्सततम् ॥
"The one who has created this variegated vast universe with varied forms has infinite power and is of infinite auspicious qualities. He certainly bestows the highest state of bliss to those who meditate on his ever happy essence." -Dwādasha stōtra 4.3
