[शुक्ल-कृष्णे (śukla-kṛṣṇe) - The bright and dark (paths); गती (gatī) - The two paths; हि (hi) - Indeed; एते (ete) - These; जगतः (jagataḥ) - Of the universe; शाश्वते (śāśvate) - Eternal; मते (mate) - Are considered; एकया (ekayā) - By one (path); याति (yāti) - One goes; अनावृत्तिम् (anāvṛttim) - To non-return (liberation); अन्यया (anyayā) - By the other (path); आवर्तते (āvartate) - One returns; पुनः (punaḥ) - Again;]
The bright and dark paths are considered eternal in this universe; by one, one attains non-return (liberation), and by the other, one returns again (to the cycle of rebirth).
