B.G 14.08
tamastvajñānajaṃ viddhi mohanaṃ sarvadehinām। pramādālasyanidrābhistannibadhnāti bhārata ॥8॥
O descendant of Bharata, understand that the 'tamas', i.e. darkness, which arises from wrong-knowledge is a delusion affecting all living beings. It binds them through negligence, laziness, and sleep.
Gīta Bhāshya 14.08
'ajñānajam' - from which wrong-knowledge arises. 'pramāda', i.e. negligence, and 'moha', i.e. delusion are because of 'tamas' quality is further clarified in 14.7.
ajñānaṃ jāyate yataḥ tat ajñānajam। 'pramādamohau tamasaḥ' iti vākyaśeṣāt ॥8॥
That from which wrong-knowledge arises is termed 'ajñānajam', i.e. originator of wrong-knowledge. The phrase 'negligence and delusion are of darkness' (at 14.17), further provides clarity.
