तस्माद्यस्य महाबाहो निगृहीतानि सर्वशः। इंद्रियाणींद्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥६८॥
tasmādyasya mahābāho nigṛhītāni sarvaśaḥ। indriyāṇīndriyārthebhyastasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā ॥68॥
[तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; यस्य (yasya) - whose; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; निगृहीतानि (nigṛhītāni) - restrained; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - completely; इन्द्रियाणि (indriyāṇi) - the senses; इन्द्रियार्थेभ्यः (indriyārthebhyaḥ) - from sense-objects; तस्य (tasya) - his; प्रज्ञा (prajñā) - wisdom; प्रतिष्ठिता (pratiṣṭhitā) - is established;]
(Therefore, O mighty-armed one, the wisdom of the person whose senses are completely withdrawn from sense-objects is firmly established.)
Therefore, O mighty-armed one, Those who have restrained in all respects their senses from the objects of senses, their wisdom is firmly established.
Gīta Bhāshya 2.68
One must try to control senses fully with the whole of his being.
तस्मात् सर्वात्मना निगृहीतेंद्रियः एव ज्ञानीति निगमयति तस्मादिति ॥६८॥
tasmāt sarvātmana nigṛhītendriyaḥ eva jñānīti nigamayati tasmāditi ॥68॥
[तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; सर्वात्मना (sarvātmana) - with all one's being; निगृहीतेंद्रियः (nigṛhītendriyaḥ) - one whose senses are restrained; एव (eva) - indeed; ज्ञानी (jñānī) - the wise one; इति (iti) - thus; निगमयति (nigamayati) - concludes; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; इति (iti) - thus;]
(Therefore, it is concluded that the truly wise person is the one who restrains his senses completely.)
Therefore, a person who tries to control the senses fully with all his being only becomes a Jnānin, the knowledgeable. Thus, control of senses is explained to be the primary reason in 'tasmāt' verse.
