B.G 2.51
कर्मजं बुद्धियुक्ता हि फलं त्यक्त्वा मनीषिणः। जन्मबन्धविनिर्मुक्ताः पदं गच्छन्त्यनामयम् ॥२-५१॥
karmajaṃ buddhiyuktā hi phalaṃ tyaktvā manīṣiṇaḥ। janmabandhavinirmuktāḥ padaṃ gacchantyanāmayam ॥2-51॥
[कर्मजम् (karmajam) - born of action; बुद्धियुक्ताः (buddhiyuktāḥ) - endowed with wisdom; हि (hi) - indeed; फलं (phalam) - fruit; त्यक्त्वा (tyaktvā) - having abandoned; मनीषिणः (manīṣiṇaḥ) - the wise ones; जन्मबन्धविनिर्मुक्ताः (janmabandhavinirmuktāḥ) - freed from the bondage of birth; पदं (padam) - state; गच्छन्ति (gacchanti) - attain; अनामयम् (anāmayam) - free from evil;]
(Those wise ones, established in wisdom, who have renounced the fruits of action, become free from the bondage of birth and reach the state that is beyond all suffering.)
The great achievers perform actions possessed with the right knowledge. Relinquishing the results, certainly they become free from the bondage that causes birth and reaches the ultimate goal without difficulty.
Gīta Bhāshya 2.51
Action performed with the right attitude leads to knowledge, that in turn leads to liberation. Relinquishing the results means offering it to the lord.
तदुपायमाह - कर्मजं इति॥ कर्मजं फलं त्यक्त्वा अकामनया ईश्वराय समर्प्य। बुदि्धयुक्ताः सम्यग्ज्ञानिनो भूत्वा पदं गच्छन्ति। संयोगकर्म ज्ञानसाधनम्, तत् मोक्षसाधनम् इति भावः ॥५१॥
tadupāyamāha - karmajaṃ iti॥ karmajaṃ phalaṃ tyaktvā akāmanayā īśvarāya samarpyā। buddhi-yuktāḥ samyag-jñānino bhūtvā padaṃ gacchanti। saṃyoga-karma jñāna-sādhanam, tat mokṣa-sādhanam iti bhāvaḥ ॥51॥
[तदुपायम् (tad-upāyam) - that means; आह (āha) - he said; कर्मजम् (karmajam) - born of action; इति (iti) - thus; कर्मजम् (karmajam) - born of action; फलं (phalam) - fruit; त्यक्त्वा (tyaktvā) - having abandoned; अकामनया (akāmanayā) - without desire; ईश्वराय (īśvarāya) - to the Lord; समर्प्य (samarpya) - having offered; बुद्धियुक्ताः (buddhiyuktāḥ) - endowed with wisdom; सम्यग्ज्ञानिनः (samyag-jñāninaḥ) - those possessing true knowledge; भूत्वा (bhūtvā) - having become; पदं (padam) - the state; गच्छन्ति (gacchanti) - attain; संयोगकर्म (saṃyoga-karma) - action of association; ज्ञानसाधनम् (jñāna-sādhanam) - means to knowledge; तत् (tat) - that; मोक्षसाधनम् (mokṣa-sādhanam) - means to liberation; इति (iti) - thus; भावः (bhāvaḥ) - the meaning;]
(He explained that the means is "born of action". By abandoning the fruits of action, acting without desire, and offering them to the Lord, those endowed with wisdom and true knowledge attain the ultimate state. The action of association is a means to knowledge, and that knowledge is a means to liberation—this is the purport.)
The solution is elaborated by 'karmajaṁ' verse. Perform actions without desire and relinquish the fruits of action by offering them to the lord. 'budidhayuktāḥ' - becoming perfectly knowledgeable one attains the goal. "Action performed with the right attitude leads to knowledge, that in turn leads to liberation" - is the intended meaning.
