  • Preface
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.01
vande vandyaṃ sadānandaṃ vāsudevaṃ nirañjanam। indirāpatimādyādivaradeśa varapradam ॥1॥
I bow to Vāsudeva, the ever-blissful and stainless lord of Indirā (Lakṣmī), the primordial one, who bestows and grants boons.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.02
namāmi nikhilādhiśakiriṭāghṛṣṭapīṭhavat। hṛttamaḥśamanerkābhaṃ śrīpateḥ pādapaṅkajam ॥2॥
I bow to the lotus feet of the Lord of Lakṣmī, which, like a seat polished by the crowns of all rulers, shine like the sun that dispels the darkness of the heart.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.03
jāmbūnadāmbarādhāraṃ nitambaṃ cintyamīśituḥ। svarṇamañjīrasaṃvītamārūḍhaṃ jagadambayā ॥3॥
The hip, adorned with cloth of Jambū river gold and golden anklets, is to be meditated upon by the Lord, as mounted by the Mother of the world.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.04
udaraṃ cintyam īśasya tanutve api akhalim bharam। valitraya-aṅkitaṃ nityam upagūḍhaṃ śriyaikayā ॥4॥
Contemplate the Lord’s abdomen, which, though slender, is never lacking in fullness; it is always marked by three folds and is closely embraced by Śrī (Lakṣmī) alone.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.05
      smaraṇīyamuro viṣṇorindirāvāsamīśituḥ। anantamantavadiva bhujayorantaraṃ gatam॥5॥
The chest of Viṣṇu, which is the abode of Lakṣmī and worthy of remembrance, appears as if the endless space between his two arms has come to have an end.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.06
śaṅkhacakragadāpadmadharāś cintyā hareḥ bhujāḥ। pīnavṛttā jagadrakṣā kevalodyogino niśam ॥6॥
One should meditate on the arms of Hari, which hold the conch, discus, mace, and lotus; they are thick, rounded, and always devoted solely to the protection of the world.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.07
santataṃ cintayet kaṇṭhaṃ bhāsvatkaustubhabhāsakam। vaikuṇṭhasyākhilā vedā udgīryante niśaṃ yataḥ ॥7॥
One should always meditate on the neck of Vaikuṇṭha, which shines with the radiant Kaustubha gem, from whom all the Vedas are eternally uttered.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.08
      smaret yāminīnāthasahasrāmitakāntimat। bhavatāpāpanodīḍyaṃ śrīpatermukha-paṅkajam ॥8॥
One should remember the lotus-like face of the Lord of Lakṣmī, which shines with the radiance of a thousand immeasurable moons and is worthy of worship, for it removes the suffering of worldly existence.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.09
pūrṇānandasukhodbhāsi mandasmitamadhīśituḥ। govindasya sadā cintyaṃ nityānandapadapradam ॥9॥
The gentle smile of Govinda, the Supreme Lord, shines with the happiness of complete bliss and should always be meditated upon, for it grants the state of eternal bliss.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.10
smarāmi bhavasantāpahānidāmṛtasāgaram। pūrṇānandasya rāmasya sānurāgāvalokanam ॥10॥
I remember the ocean of nectar that dispels the suffering of worldly existence—the loving gaze of Rāma, the blissful one.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.11
      dhyāyedajasram īśasya padmajādi-pratīkṣitam। bhrūbhaṅgaṃ pārameṣṭhyādi-pada-dāyi vimuktidam ॥11॥
One should always meditate on the Lord, who is awaited by Brahmā and others, whose mere movement of the eyebrows bestows the positions of Brahmā and others, and who grants liberation.
    • Vande Vandyaṃ.12
santataṃ cintayen antam antakāle viśeṣataḥ। naiva udāpur gṛṇanto antaṃ yad guṇānām ajādayaḥ ॥12॥
One should always contemplate the end, especially at the time of death. Not even the Udāpur, reciting the end of the qualities, beginning with Aja and others, (reach it).
