Chapter Seven - Viśvasthitipralayasarga (सप्तमोध्यायः - विश्वस्थितिप्रलयसर्ग)
viśvasthitipralayasargamahāvibhūtivr̥ttiprakāśaniyamāvr̥tibandhamōkṣāḥ। yasyā apāṅgalavamātrata ūrjitā sā śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥1॥
The universe’s maintenance, dissolution, creation, great powers, activity, illumination, regulation, concealment, bondage, and liberation are empowered by the merest fraction of Śrī’s sidelong glance. I bow to Ajita, through whose glance she is empowered. (1)
brahmēśaśakraravidharmaśaśāṅkapūrvagīrvāṇasantatiriyaṁ yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya viśvavijayaṁ visr̥jatyacintyā śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥2॥
I bow to Ajita, through whose glance the inconceivable Śrī is powerful; relying on a mere fraction of her sidelong glance, this host of gods headed by Brahmā, Īśa, Śakra, Ravi, Dharma, and Śaśāṅka brings about the conquest of the universe. (2)
dharmārthakāmasumatipracayādyaśēṣasanmaṅgalaṁ vidadhatē yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya tatpraṇatasatpraṇatā apīḍyā śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥3॥
Taking refuge in a mere fraction of whose sidelong glance, those unassailable people who bow to the virtuous who bow to him bring about every true blessing, beginning with righteousness, wealth, desire, good judgment, and abundance. I bow to Ajita, through whose glance Śrī is powerful. (3)
ṣaḍvarganigrahanirastasamastadōṣā dhyāyanti viṣṇumr̥ṣayō yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya yānapi samētya na yāti duḥkhaṁ śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥4॥
Freed from all faults by subduing the six inner enemies, the sages meditate on Vishnu, relying on the slightest trace of his sidelong glance. Even one who comes into their company does not fall into suffering. I bow to Ajita, through whose glance Śrī is powerful. (4)
śēṣāhivairiśivaśakramanupradhānacitrōrukarmaracanaṁ yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya viśvamakhaliṁ vidadhāti dhātā śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥5॥
Relying upon a mere sidelong glance of his, which fashions the wondrous and mighty deeds of Śeṣa, the Serpent’s Enemy, Śiva, Śakra, Manu, and others foremost among them, the Creator creates the entire universe. I bow to Ajita, by whose glance Śrī is powerful. (5)
śakrōgradīdhitihimākarasūryasūnupūrvaṁ nihatya nikhaliṁ yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya nr̥tyati śivaḥ prakaṭōruśaktiḥ śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥6॥
I bow to Ajita. Relying on a mere fraction of his sidelong glance, Śiva, his immense power manifest, dances after destroying everything, beginning with Indra, the fierce-rayed one, the moon, and the son of the Sun; through his sidelong glance Śrī is powerful. (6)
tatpādapaṅkajamahāsanatāmavāpa śarvādivandyacaraṇō yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya nāgapatiranyasurairdurāpāṁ śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥7॥
Relying on the slightest sidelong glance of Ajita, the lord of serpents, whose feet are revered by Śarva and others, attained the status—difficult for other gods to attain—of being the great seat for his lotus feet. I bow to Ajita, through whose glance Śrī is powerful. (7)
nāgārirugrabalapauruṣa āpa viṣṇōrvāhatvamuttamajavō yadapāṅgalēśam। āśritya śakramukhadēvagaṇairacintyaṁ śrīryatkaṭākṣabalavatyajitaṁ namāmi ॥8॥
Relying on the slightest trace of whose sidelong glance, the enemy of serpents, possessing formidable strength, prowess, and supreme speed, attained the status of Viṣṇu’s mount; Lakṣmī is powerful through whose glance—I bow to that Ajita, inconceivable to the hosts of gods headed by Śakra. (8)
ānandatīrthamunisanmukhapaṅkajōtthaṁ sākṣādramāharimanaḥpriyamuttamārtham। bhaktyā paṭhatyajitamātmani sannidhāya yaḥ stōtramētadabhiyāti tayōrabhīṣṭam ॥9॥
Whoever devoutly recites this hymn, which arose from the noble lotus-mouth of sage Ānandatīrtha, is directly dear to the hearts of Ramā and Hari, and contains the highest meaning, enshrining Ajita within himself, attains what those two desire. (9)
iti śrīmadānandatīrthabhagavatpādācāryaviracitē dvādaśastōtrē saptamōdhyāyaḥ।
Thus ends the seventh chapter of the Dvādaśastotra, composed by the venerable Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpādācārya.
