Chapter Four (चतुर्थोऽध्यायः॥)
“Viṣṇu is Brahman and likewise the non-giver”—meditation in this manner is to be performed constantly, even in adversity. Through it, Brahman becomes directly apprehended.
Karma other than prārabdha karma is completely destroyed through knowledge alone, as is undesirable karma of both kinds; all the rest is exhausted through experience.
Entering successively higher beings in this way, as far as Vāyu, those proceeding toward liberation experience karmic fruits either within that being or indeed outside it; Vāyu does so only upon entering Viṣṇu. Human beings, having also passed beyond the successively higher enjoyments, attain liberation upon the dissolution of the body. The gods—the highest souls, beginning with the highest among humans—having reached Vāyu by the path beginning with flame, go through him to Janārdana from Brahmaloka together with him.
Their enjoyment accords with their will, and they possess bodies of consciousness and bliss, though they lack even great power with respect to the creation of the world and the like; possessing power according to their desire, subject to no other except those naturally superior, and free from increase and decrease, they rejoice uninterruptedly in eternal happiness devoid of sorrow and the like.
This compendium of the meanings of all the scriptures was composed by the sage Pūrṇaprajña. May the Supreme Self, the Lord of Ramā, be pleased with it.
Obeisance, obeisance to you, the Lord of Śrī, who are far removed from every defect, whose nature is replete with perfect qualities, and who are worthy of praise and reverence by Viriñci, Śarva, and others.
Thus ends the fourth chapter.
Thus the Aṇubhāṣya on the Brahma Sūtras, composed by the venerable Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpādācārya, is complete.
